I have 2 Mustangs - a 2007 Roush 427R and a 2015 Roush stage 2. It seems to be typical that a vast majority of Mustangs tend to wear the inside third of the front tire. The 427 R is lowered from Roush so, of course it wears the inside. This is not a problem on this car as it is a show car and it present only has 11k in miles. However, the 2015 has been a daily driver for some years and the current set of tires with 10k miles show no wear on the outer 2/3 with the inner 1/3 about half gone. The 2015 has the stock ford suspension with just wider tires.

I have been reading about the possibility of using Camber Bolts along with getting a gauge which attaches to the rotor to make a small adjustment myself. Just wondering if anyone else has made this type of adjustment. From what I have read I would need to add a little Neg camber after zeroing out the gauge before starting. Maybe a half of a degree? What do you guys think? Car currently rides and handles great. Just trying to get a little more life out of those front tires. Thanks

It's usually toe that wears out the inside of tires.

Mine (2019 PP1) came with -1.5 from the factory and seems to be wearing ok. Camber is the easiest of the measurements to check, plenty of DIY articles online.

OK Guys, Thanks for your replies. A little followup. I have checked my toe using the string method and found that both sides are toed out 1/4 inch much to my surprise. I would have thought toed in too much as many have suggested. I am leaning more toward the toe issue than the camber as suggested. And looking at pictures online, toe out can cause inside wear as well. So, looks like I will be adjusting my toe to the recommended 1/16 toe in. Any further thoughts?

1/4" !!!!! With that much toe out I would not be surprised at fast tire wear.

If the tread pattern permits, you might also consider ā€œflippingā€ the tires to even out the wear. Have a tire shop break ā€˜em down and mount them again with the ā€œinsideā€ on on the outside.

Thanks again Guys, Thanks for the picture stoner My Cooper AC3 looks similar but the wear on mine goes a little into the next tread block with only 10k miles. I take it yours is toe as well.

Cooper AC3s are labeled with an inside and an outside for mounting. Not sure if that is for Tread pattern only. I have flipped directional tire rotation before with no issues.

Being retired we don't put a lot of miles on our Mustangs. My plan is to adjust the toe and run a little higher air pressure for a while

I agree outward toe would be the first thing to look at. In a straight line the tires are trying to run away from the car and outward toe is exacerbating that. Once adjusted take the car out for a decent drive then immediately check the tire temps (you can do with just a basic laser thermometer) on the inside and outside of each front tire. If the inside is still significantly hotter than the outside you have no other choice except to start tweeking camber and caster as well.
