Hey guys! This forum has been very helpful in the past so I figured I’d come back for some help here.
Yesterday, I took my 2016 Mustang GT/CS out on an hour and a half drive up around 5000ft (starting at sea level), but after parking it and getting back in, noticed the A/C stopped blowing as cold.
As we were coming down the mountain I had to stay in the lower RPMs, so the cabin gradually got hotter and hotter, so to test it out I turned off the A/C until it got very warm in the cabin, and then upon merging on the highway and maintaining 80mph with the compressor turned back on, almost instantaneously it got ice cold again.
Later after getting off the highway and returning to lower RPMs, it was once again getting less cold.
I had the radiator and compressor replaced last year in March at a dealer under warranty, but noticed a much louder than usual whine coming from the engine bay when I got home, as well as a loud bizarre click as if something like a fan is stuck and can’t move.
In the video, the compressor is on at the start, then I turn it off and you can hear the difference. When he pans right, I gave it a little gas and he said the tick sped up with the RPMs.
Here’s a video: YouTube Link
So I understand Ford has a 2 year unlimited mile warranty on all Motorcraft parts, however after speaking with the dealer that did the repair last year in the spring, he told me that only applies to parts purchased outside warranty, and since mine was a warranty repair, they would only cover one year and 12k miles.
What do you think the appropriate next step may be?
