Care to give an estimate as to when we may see the 10R in the Mustang? '17MY? '18MY? One of those? :gossip:

FWIW, I have briefly driven the 6R in a '13MY rental in Las Vegas last year. I liked it, although the lack of paddles in that car was disappointing (the rocker switch on the shifter just seemed odd).

I've experienced the ZF8-speed in a BMW 235i and it is a stunning transmission. I really hope Ford are benchmarking this for the 10R

I've experienced the ZF8-speed in a BMW 6 Gran Coupe and a 3 series Touring and in an Audi A8. The ZF8-speed is great in all of those cars, but it is the package of engine (responsiveness, torquecurve, ability to revv), Sound design of the engine, final drive Ratio and so on, which is relevant. and it all depends on what you are expecting. the 6 Grand Coupe offered a superb mix of luxurious smoothness andunbelievable responsiveness, whereas the Audi A8 offered a more technical, perfect mpg-result feel.

on the other Hand i know the 6R80 from my 2014 Ranger Limited Pickup. Very smooth shifts and pretty eager, to shift up (in case not much power is needed) or down (whenever it senses demand of power. With ist ability to handle up to 800 Nm of torque (the euro Mustang GT 5.0 Coyote is rated 524 Nm), there is pretty much reserve for some power-improvements.

if a 400+ hp car like the Mustang really Needs as much transmissions ratios as a Peterbilt or if a 6speed is the perfect solution will be unanswered until we have the Chance to testdrive the new 10-speed...

Sorry..I should have worded that better. I meant the transmission origin isn't a Ford unit. It's a ZF sourced design built under license
