It's cool, I'm all about the accuracy of info around here and don't mind being corrected when I'm wrong at all. It was just the way that some of the corrections were worded and/or highlighted that put me off. Well, that and the number of them with the same apparent "tone".

Just assume instead they are being friendly :headbang::headbang:

I am trying to organize a group buy for the 2015 Mustang. I have been talking with two large dealerships in Northern Virginia t with plenty of allocation. I just got an offer in writing of $500 below invoice which is about $650 lower than X-Plan. Is anyone else interested in joining me?
My plan is to wait for the reviews and do some test drives before I make a decision, but this does sound interesting. A few questions jump to mind:

How many orders does the dealer want to give you this price?

When do the orders need to be placed?

How much of a deposit needs to be put down and is it non-refundable?

Will there be any other fees added to that price (other than tax, tags, and registration) and, if so, how much?

Thanks.

The dealership that Im working with is not small country dealership. Big volume delaership with plenty of allocation. If you are happy paying more that's great. Im trying to save as much as possible and right now I have an offer that is atleast $650 lower than X-Plan in writting. By the way I also have the $750 coupon and they told me I could use it. Ive got three others ready to go. If anyone else is interested let me know?
So you can get $650 below invoice WITHOUT a "group buy" then. Even if 4 more people don't "join in" you will still get that price. In your first post you say $500 below invoice for the group buy. What gives?

That isn't a "group buy" then. I still think you aren't revealing that you either work for this dealer or are getting reimbursed somehow for attracting potential sales to this dealer.

Sorry but I'm highly skeptical of your claims. If you secure that price for yourself that is great. If someone takes you up on it and posts up the deal that is great. Until then I'm going to advise people in this thread to be wary if they contact you.

See if he will get you the name of the dealership without any other information and contact them on your own. There is no such thing as a "group buy" on a vehicle. You negotiate YOUR OWN deal. Who knows, maybe you could negotiate LOWER than what he claims to have in writing.

Anytime before 8-31-14

$500 deposit that is non refundable

Here is the link to DC Area Group Buy - Jeep: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f73/dc-metro-area-group-buy-54432.html

Why are you so insistent that group buys don't exist. Just because you haven't heard of it before doesn't mean it does not exist. There are smarter people out there grouping their resources to save money. I don't have all the answers but in two weeks I found a better deal than most of the folks on this forum could get. I want to share that with anyone that wants it. The golden rule! Do unto others!

Check out the link and see for yourself!!!

Why are you hating so hard? Don't like to see someone else come into something good? If it's not for you that's fine. You don't have to crap all over me to make yourself look like a hero!

That dealer processing fee of $689 might be the source of your $650 below invoice.

I see that it is high but in this region the dealerships that I have spoken to all have processing fees around $500.

Its because I think you have an ulterior motive. You either work for this dealership, have a friend/relative that is a salesman who will get commission or something to that effect.

If you are truly being generous by trying to get members a better price I can appreciate that. It still isn't a "group buy" as you say. That dealer will take as many orders as they can or have allocations for. Sounds like you have secured a good price that DOES NOT rely on a "group buy/purchase". Good for you I am glad you did.

I live by the mantra of "If its too good to be true, it probably is." I am just advising those that are contacting you to be cautious and make sure they aren't getting ripped off. I don't know you from Adam. You can CLAIM anything on the internet. I'd hate to see some members get led astray by something. I hope you are on the up and up. But I still think you aren't telling us the entire truth. Thats my prerogative, and I will advise caution to others. If you can persuade them and you are doing it for strictly kind/generous means then my hat off to you.

X plan CAPS that fee at $100. (Or at the state mandated MINIMUM doc fee by law)

Post up your DORA when you order and we will take a look.

You hit the nail on the head. That is an outrageous doc fee.

Have you ever worked at a dealership? Do you have relatives that work at a dealership? How do you know what is too good to be true? You are correct in saying that this is only your opinion. Advise is only good if it is based on fact.

Did you check out the link that I sent you? That is fact. Real life! Others are doing it. You have said several times that there is no such thing as a group buy. You were the first person that responded to my first post. You don't want to believe that others are doing exactly what I want to do. Go to the link. Read it. Are all those folks getting ripped off and lied to? You don't have to believe me. Read it with your own eyes.

Lastly, if you are doing this on the up and up this dealership is USING you to do their work for them. Not bad having someone else go out and drum up 4 more sales for them. Tell them flat out you want that quoted deal and you will walk as you aren't going to do any more legwork for them. I bet they change their tune. You can tell them you will try to send more buyers their way but you aren't their employee. Stand firm and walk if they don't play ball.

Yes I had/have family in the business. :)

You can find links anywhere. How about posting up which dealer you are talking to? Then how about sharing your deal agreement, just blank out any personal information. And refer to my post above. If you aren't an employee they are USING you. Talk to them and insist they give you that price regardless of how many people may take them up. Stand firm and be prepared to walk if they don't.

Let them know you can get X-plan that caps the doc fee at $100 and see what they say. You can go anywhere that accepts X-plan.

Found this out for you as well… (from 2011 so I will look for more recent)

http://www.realcartips.com/newcars/482-documentation-fees-by-state.shtml

Virginia has no laws on doc fees apparently. My state actually does have a cap or maximum but NO minimum. That $689 doc fee they want is making up that $650 below invoice and then some. I'd ask them if you get a tube of lube with that doc fee. Talk to them and see if they will drop that doc fee to $100 or just tell them you will go elsewhere and get a better deal.

I even see Maryland has a $200 cap. They can't be that far from you in northern Virginia. Contact some dealers in Maryland with this dealers offer and see if they will match or beat it. Play one off the other so to speak. Make the dealers work for your money, not the other way around.
