Another good weekend at the NJMP Lightning Course.

There were 2 GT350s, a yellow track, and a Black Tech package who I think it on this board (or another) since he could monitor his transmission temperatures. Luckily he never hit limp.

I used harrys timer which is cool but really needs a external GPS it didnt accurately have my lap times. I think my best time was a 1:18.

Hmm car felt good I'm running 1.9 of camber in the front. I'm still playing with PSIs and I'm a novice lol. Car felt planted though so I had no complaints.

Firestarter,

Those were some nice laps. If Lightning is a track you'll be driving more, and you don't mind some tips from someone you don't know . . . here are a few tweaks you might consider: (these are non-race, non-wet, open track options)

You're "pinching" turn 4 (left onto the very short straight before the uphill turn #5). Go out about 1 more car length before turn-in; you'll carry more speed and more balance.

You're positioning well through #5, but let the car move to the outside curbing under throttle. Again, more speed and balance. Same thing with going through #7. I know the narrow curb and dirt looks bad, but work on opening the car to carry over to the end of the curbing under throttle.

Light bulb. There are several paths through the banking. But, you'll want to get on the throttle earlier, and, again, let the car carry out to the exit curbing on throttle. Start feeding in more throttle once the car is balanced after entry (around mid-turn). The bottom curb "apex" is less important that being on full throttle and letting the car carry out to the exit curbing. Balance and speed. You'll be 145-150 mph by the timing tower.

Good work through turn 1. When you get some clear track, work up to 75-80 mph through turn 1. Brake later and take advantage of the uphill compression braking advantage. Miatas go through at 90 mph, but, they're Miatas . . .

And, good job not following the other drivers' bad lines.

Unsolicited, anonymous advice is always welcome, no?

Thanks for the advice its well received. I had some similar thoughts on some of the sections. #1 I know I was taking to slow. #7 I agree I was using different line in the morning I dont feel like being tight is good for this car.

Im also not at 100% throttle a lot of times I could be.

Live learn!

Turn #1 is tough because its blind and over the crest of a hill with the car un-weighting while tracking out, which is when adding throttle can be tricky. Be comfortable getting to the inside curbing, crest the hill, get your eyes on turn #2, open the steering, feel the car settle, and gently add throttle.

The taller gearing in the 350 is a factor, so 3rd gear can work, but I find that I need to be in 4th gear (in the dry) to accommodate speed and the torque curve so as not to upset the car while hitting the downside of the slope.

Anyway, its fun to play with.

Keep it up!

So would you say that the Black Tech package only achieved speeds that would be legal on public streets?

Dunno I never saw him on the track which meant we were lapping and roughly the same speeds.
