Headers won't ruin the car but will give you a check engine light. A tune not only removes the cel but optimizes the headers and ads power. Modding and voiding your warranty is a personal decision.
Honestly, if you go through the hassle of installing headers, you've probably already thrown the idea of warranty out the window.

I'm running mine without a tune right now, and got a CEL. Should go away once my tune arrives.

Supposedly, if you go with the Kooks green cats, you shouldn't get a CEL, but they cost a good chunk of money too.

I'd do stainless works catted headers and then move to catless when you get a tune.

Does the Kooks fit well? I remember reading the Stainless Power design hits the AC bracket and bolt causing false knock.
Anybody have this issue and did pushing the motor over towards the drivers side correct this????

I looked at mine today and the passenger side header is VERY close to the A/C bracket.

You don't need a tune to use LT headers. Ecu uses knock sensors, wideband sensor,map sensor,MAF sensor,ETC. and is capable of adjusting for them easily. You just won't get to take full advantage of what they have to offer. Also you won't get to turn off the check engine light caused by the catalytic convertors missing or not being as efficient as the ecu wants them to be.
