5.0 Emblems

Maybe I have missed out on a thread but I am wondering if you can plasti dip the side emblems on the car or if they have to be removed and reinstalled?

You can plastidip them while they are on the car. Just box them with tape leaving about an inch of the paint surrounding the emblems exposed. Once you finish with all the coats, peel the portions off on the paint and the plastidip will pull up off of the paint while leaving the emblems black. I used wooden skewers to pick away the remaining portions inside the 5 and 0. I was pretty amazed by this product. Cheap, easy, and looks great. I just plastidipped my hood's heat extractors and it turned out pretty nice. The best past is that if you mess up and can just peel it off. I tried the plastidip glossifier on one of the extractors and again I was surprised at how good it came out. I ended up peeling it off because I liked the matte black look better.

How the heck did you do peel the dip off the car without it peeling off the emblems??? I tried this weekend even with a sharp xacto blade to cut the dip free around the emblems but was not able to successfully do so. I ended up prying the damn things off the car to dip them and put them back on. Looks great in the end but it was a PIA to get them off.

You must have done it wrong. I've used plastidip hundreds of times and it's easy to peel around the emblems without removing the dip on the emblems themselves.

Yep, count me in. How far out are we talkin? Just installed my new 5.0 emblems yesterday and have been looking for a solutions for the pony and GT emblems.
