I'm just getting back into the mustang world after being gone since the fox body mustangs. What can these new 5.0 motors handle as far as boost/hp in stock form. My silver gt pp is on order and I really want to go with a supercharger as my last mustang/lightning (push rod motors) were supercharged and turboed. I have heard good things about the new motor, but want the run down of what they can and can't do.

Thanks

It can do the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. It can hold 6 large pumpkins in the cargo area. The hips can serve as a makeshift table for two coney dogs.

The 11-14 5.0's where good for an easy 550-600ish (whp) at 9ish pounds and remaining pretty reliable. The new should be good for at least that. I suspect a few more hp with the revisions. I have heard that the top ring may have been moved closer to the piston face, leaving a relatively thin top land. If this is true, that could limit max boost (see the dodges, 6 psi being about all they can reliably take). I don't not have confirmation of that yet.

It's really about controlling detonation.. On 93 octane (and all of it's slight variations from pump to pump), I wouldn't run more than 600whp. On c16 or e85, 700-750whp.
In your opinion, using E85.. what setup is the most cost effective way to run 600-700hp on a weekend cruiser?

By cost effective, I'm referring to the whole setup including any changes to fuel system etc.

TVS, KB, centri options?
