I have read a motormagazine from Sweden called Teknikens Värld (World of technology) and they have done a rewiew on the new Mustang GT.

In that report they have measured the real engine performance and they were surprised that the new Mustang got 17 extra HP over the 418 and 9 extra Nm.
Also the consumtion was lower then expected.

The Mustang was compared to other 2 cars (BMW 428 and AUDI 2,0 TFSI) They have tested those cars HP as well and they have mesured under the claimed figure.

If I understood correctly, did they test 2000cc versus 5 litre?

Its interesting how they measure it because wheel hp should be below 400hp for drivetrain losses and I don't they took engine out and put it on the dyno...

I know that this magazine used a Rototest before. That was some years ago.

Today maybe they are using a dynotest. I don´t really know but it´s interesting to find out.

Those benches test the power to the rear wheel but when you lift off it calculates the loss in the drive train so you get the engine power.
But it is the power at the wheels that counts...

Got the magazine and have read the test, the Magazine is known for accuracy and to favour Volvo and german premium cars.

They tested A5 2.0TFSI and BMW 428i and the Mustang slapt them in the face, the authors wrote it was the biggest surprise 2015 that a Mustang GT could crush the Audi and BMW in every way!

And the power output from the Stang is impressive, Audi states 225 hp and had 227 in the test, BMW 245 hp and had 239 and the stang 418 hp and had 435!

The Mustang had better torque from 2000-6500 than the opponents ever had.

And yes, they are 2,0 liters turbo engines but the BMW cost more than 10 000 euros more than the Mustang as tested, Congrats Ford, you finally made it!

5,5 s for 0-100 for the GT?
5 C outside temp, test was performed pretty high up in Sweden, bad traction, check the trap speed on the quarter mile, 177 km/h, approx 111 mph, that is a fast car!

Bless you for uploading that! I bought the mag, but it's nice to have a pdf to refer to :D

Yeah, 5.5s is a bit of a disappointment, but testing things this time of year in Scandinavia, on summer tyres, you can't really be surprised. Engineering Explained had similar trouble in this recent video:

[ame]

His first try was 6.5 seconds (not a typo), DOWNHILL.

That's what happens when the roads are slippery...

...and the stang 418 hp and had 435!
Funny that in Sweden it is advertised with 418 while in Germany the figure is 421. As the V8 is the same I wonder how this difference of the numbers come from.

Good to know that the measured output is higher and not lower. Though there is somewhat variation in production but in Dynos as well :D

It's PS vs bhp. Traditionally, PS is used in Germany, and Sweden tends to use bhp. This sort of discrepancy is present in most car reviews when you cross-shop German and Swedish magazine articles.

When I check some Swedish GT:s they do have 421 hp, even the one in this test has 421 hp or 310 kW, i don´t know why they claim 418 hp?
