I skipped it and got the performance package instead. The only thing I would care to have would be a sub and I can throw that in for less than 2k.

I'll echo everyone else and say that it's your car and your choice.
However, the 400A and 401A speakers/amps are the same except for the rear deck speakers (401 are co-axial) and 401's inclusion of the sub along with it's 100W amp.
I've listened to both after they've been broken in and the 401 sounds better, no doubt, but they aren't light years apart.
FWIW: If all the parts that make the 401 were separate options, I would have only ticked the box for the BLISS. But that's just my opinion.

Exactly...better but not that much better. The sub and rear decks don't matter to me. The stereo is just fine for daily driving.

And yes, BLISS should be in the reverse sensing pack as a duo option.

Just like the HD Radio should be an option with the 12 speaker/sub.

Mem seats should just be a premium included.

Ford is just screwing people over here forcing them to upgrade into this weird package.

Blind spot system is awesome. I love that feature.

Memory driver seat is awesome. I love having it slide forward and back to make entry and egress easier.

Cross traffic alert is VERY useful.

The speaker system is adequate. I'd never spend the money to get a real system in my car, so it's nice to have something like the 401a from the factory. This is especially true since I need the trunk space and folding seats to fit all of my hockey goalie equipment in the back seat.

I honestly can't believe you need 401a to get HD radio, but I very much appreciate having HD radio over regular radio as someone who does listen to a lot of radio.

To me 401a was a must have along with the performance package, premium package, manual transmission, and navigation.

Thanks for your answers everyone! I think I am going to go with the performance package instead. Once I upgrade my exhaust I won't listen to my radio just (same thing happened with my current car). another question: when i finish building my car it gives me the final price, so how can I lower that? do i talk to the dealership?

I love the BLISS. I use it every time I drive. I have also been fine without it for many years of driving, but why object to an enhancement?

The memory seat is useful.

Wouldn't know how much I'm getting from the sub.

It's a lot of money, but I love the BLISS.

I love the 401a package!

My wife drives my car every now and then and it used to take me days to get my seat & mirrors back to the right place in my last Mustang after she drove it.

The BLIS is really very good. Saves my butt backing out of the parking garage spaces at work when I'm stuck between SUVs. Nice in the So Cal traffic too.

And the Shaker Pro is by far the best stock system I have ever heard. I did upgrade the drivers in the tweets, mids and sub, but that cost nothing compared to what I spent upgrading my 2012 vert.'s sound system. Now, it sounds almost as good as the Coyote!

Well worth the $ in my opinion. Any, as another poster put it, who pays sticker for anything. I got my car for $200.00 over invoice.

Also, I keep seeing x-plan discount; how do i get that?
Join Mustang Club of America and they'll send you an X-Plan # to use.

Or you can just go to the dealer and ask for under invoice. I've had no problems getting about $4500 off MSRP at least from most dealers. Best so far I've been quoted is $350 under invoice.
