The dealership quoted 8 hours of labor to replace the 3rd brake light due to a crack. Does that sound about right? There is a small crack on the black trim which let in some moisture. Any advice will be appreciated thanks!

I would guess you have to take out the back window to replace it. Not a job I'd look forward to.

Yeah, why not warranty?! Ford needs to warranty these ultra expensive lights!

This. How many miles on the car? Why isnt it warranty?
There is a crack on it, how can I argue to get that fixed under warranty? The crack was not there before.

There are some members here that have the service manual for the car. Maybe they could see whats involved in replacing that 3rd brake light. I would think its bolted down from inside the car and you would just have to lower the headliner.

EDIT: If your dealer wont warranty it, try a different dealer or contact deysha from this forum.

1000 miles on the car.
If nothing has actually damaged it and this is due to a defective part it should be absolutely warrantied. I would get serious with your service advisor, this is bullshit on a 1K mile car.

I just don't understand why would they make the brake light replacement such a pain... Who's design idea was that...

Another option that I have is the temporarily fix the problem if there is any glue like product that could seal the crack. It probably won't look right but if it fixes the problem I could live with it.

If you can live with it yeah but its not really a long term solution :/
