Has anyone had issues with steering wheel clock springs failing ever or consistently?

I originally had mine replaced in June for an open circuit in the first stage airbag inflator wiring under warranty. All was well until a few days ago, and i haven't been able to pull the code, but i setup an appointment for it to go back to the dealer Monday morning.

You can see exactly what is happening in this video - as i turn the steering wheel the airbag light comes on. You can also hear something ticking behind the steering wheel. I have no doubt it's going to be the same fault again. It almost sounds like the wiring has been routed through the steering wheel incorrectly.

It's not a huge deal, but it hurts to know that something is wrong with it. We all love our Mustangs and i hate to see something wrong with it.

Is the steering wheel stock or after market?

Interior is completely stock. Never been touched. I can see how an aftermarket wheel could cause an issue.

Think you're wise letting the dealer work it out. After all they been down this road once already.

Electronics can and do have intermittent problems from time to time.

The down side of the extra nonsense we have today in the cars.

Cheers

Funny thing is, i'm an auto tech professionally, but i have no desire to work on my own cars after doing it so many years. Plus it's covered under warranty and will be documented as well.

Know how that works.

Just to update, it was indeed a bad clock spring again. It was replaced and this time the steering wheel does not click on turns. I do believe it was installed in the incorrect position last time and broke the wires. All is well now!
