Took the Mach1 in for state inspection yesterday and the dealership would not pass it due to the rear cup 2's outer siping being worn down. Car only has 2600 miles and most were babied! I never did burn outs or really pushed the car. You think you would get more then 2600 miles out a a set of cup 2's!! Replaced the rears with a set of PS4S's. Would it hurt to put 295/30/19's PS4's on the front, instead of the 305's?

Any other experiences like this?

4k - 5k is about the best you will get on the Cups. 3k would not be uncommon but you might be able to argue some warranty.

Find a friend swap wheels, get reinspected, pass, put your wheels back on, drive away. šŸ¤šŸ‘

Unless there is a defect there is no warranty on Cup 2ā€™s. Iā€™m betting the inspector had no clue that he was looking at a street legal racing tire and failed it. Hell even some dealers donā€™t know this.

True, they look worn when brand new :)

Cups look 3/4 worn out when they are brand new!

You will probably get 3 to 4 times the mileage/wear out of the PS4Ss in comparison.

Different inspector or bring pics from Michelin or TireRacks site of brand new cup 2's and see if they will pass. This is also an opportunity for a second set of non-track wheels or vice versa.

I swapped mine out at 4.5K. I wish Ford had offered tire options from factory and not just the Cup 2s. But I get itā€¦race car. I would just get new tires tbh, itā€™s gonna happen anyway.

Yepā€¦Itā€™s amazing how many people see my car and make a, ā€œyou need new tiresā€ comment.

The cup 2 tires are junkā€¦.unless on a race track. Ford puts them on cars so the magazines can run hero times when testing.

Well thatā€™s exactly what they were designed for. No one has ever claimed they are a great street tire. Ford puts them in packages they believe owners will use on the track. Many owners with Cup 2's have a second set of wheels with PS4ā€˜s or ESCā€™s.

Second the PS4S! Its got plenty of grip for track days and will last you 12-15k miles depending on how hard you drive!

Or the Falken Azenis RT660. They come in OG staggered sizes for the HP cars. I run them at the closed circuit road courses and theyā€™re really good. Lots of grip.

Moved from Erie 52 years ago and have relatives still there. I understand the inspection issues for PA. Not an enjoyable experience. I realize their intent but sometimes bureaucracy is a killer.
