Can someone elucidate me on my transmission? Does it have upgraded shift forks? What is the spline count? Should I replace the clutch with an RST? Right now the car is at the dealer with 4,500 miles getting a new motor, who knows how long that will take. I'd like to make use of the downtime and sicne its going to be torn apart maybe upgrade some pieces. Just not sure if there was a model year where the issues with the MT82 that I read so much about were fixed.

The MT82-D4 reportedly received upgraded shift forks in 2019. I have a 2019 and I’ve had my tranny apart for a rebuild with about 5600 miles on the odometer. The factory forks are still cast aluminum, which did not give me any peace of mind.

There are upgrades available, such as synchros and bronze shift fork pads for reverse, but the billet aluminum shift forks are hard to come by. Of course both mods will require a complete tear down to install them. Having said that, it can be one heckuva rabbit hole to go down. I went all the way into that rabbit hole with mine and it’s been great ever since.

While your car is being worked on, I do recommend upgrading your clutch. If you plan on racing, go with a cerametallic clutch disc material.

What's the go to clutch? Organic material? Dual or no? Im boosting it in the spring shooting for mid 700s at the wheel

It seems that there are a few good choices. Vengeance, and McLeod RXT. I have the Ram Ram Pro Street twin disc cerametallic in mine. Itts supposed to be rated for 1000 hp.

The Ram has handled my 639 hp with ease. I’ll see how well it holds when I add boost.
