2022 Carbon Traps

This is likely yet another of my stupid questions, but in the UK do our 2022 GTs/Mach 1's also have carbon traps installed in the air intakes? I know they put them in the U.S. cars in 2022, but are they also in the UK-spec cars? This guy picked up 18 hp he claims.

There wasn’t one in mine. I checked when I fitted an oil separator and I might even have posted a pic taken from the air filter end.

Thanks so much for letting me know. I was worried the Americans had also stuffed us with another horsepower robbing device! Just got back from a sunny morning drive. Safe to say, I unleashed hell.

When I see YouTuber's, Tik Tok'ers etc., I ask myself what is their angle. If this YouTuber hadn't spent a bit of time selling his "headlamp" I'd not have been so questioning of the video legitimacy.

That said, even if there wasn't a headlamp sales pitch, my questions would be, was that an apples-to-apples test? We don't know the ambient temp differences, or what else may have been different between the pulls.

We all know that restricting air volume available does affect performance. On the other side of the spectrum, that's why forced induction increases power. But back to product claims and how to temper them with reason...

There are many products that mention "up to" a certain HP or Torque gain. Well, if the person selling the product makes a claim, is that person wanting to use somewhat different conditions to "inflate" the benefits? You seldom know. On Power Nation's series called Engine Power they are very methodical. That said, I recently heard a host say, ""Now that we've made our first dyno run and the engine's temp is up let's make another run and see what we can get." And by jove, there was a difference in the HP and torque results.

So I don't necessarily hang my hat on what is stated on YouTube or by product sales teams, thinking, "Oh great, I'm going to get 18hp more horses.". Maybe, and then maybe not. If something is being marketed to me, that "up to" phrase inserted may be only 2 or 3 for me, instead of the 18 range.

think it's more the UK regulations rather than the US adding parts to stiff us lol.
