Maybe look at my post #109 after which time you might have a much better understanding of my math versus yours.

I believe the carbon fiber track pack car will be just under 4000 pounds.
Base car a little over 4100 pounds.

BMW M3 and M4 weight 3500lb. 370Z is 33-3500. The corvette is 33-3400. The Z06 tips in at 3500. The Mustang is a royal pig. An 'exotic' Mustang should at least try to keep up.

The 2020 GT500 will crush those cars.

Right, but those cars are on a platform that was already lighter, it was built into the development costs, amortized over the life cycle of the vehicle, it wasn't like the existing S550 based GT500 was going to lose significant weight __and__ maintain a reasonable price. I mean, I get it, it's a bit heavy, but that's what the engineers had to work with, they've done a little weight savings here and there, given it a slick tranny, loads of HP, crazy supporting hardware (aero, brakes, wheels), let's see how the weight actually plays out in real world testing. :)

Oh, I removed the 370 from the list, it's so far out of this performance segment, you might as well have included a Miata :D

400lbs of weight is worth about 57HP. 7lbs per HP is a general rule of thumb. In other words losing 400lbs is like adding 57HP.
Walk all over them.
Maybe, since that's a function of getting the power down in a timely fashion. But why consider just the trivial use-case of straight line acceleration?

I threw the 370Z into the mix because it's considered to be badly overweight, but fits into the general category. Plus I've driven one and can compare.

The modern Camaro is 3700. Ford has zero excuse for being so wide of the mark. bonded AL chassis is standard fare these days.
