I don't think our boats will stand a chance against the new 400z in a drag. And if we get smoked on the drag, forget about a road course. Car and Driver has good reason to believe it will be a V6 turbo from the Q60 which makes 400hp easy.

The only concern I have is how they're gonna take care of cooling. The engine bay is already small and a forced induction 370z is not reasonable because even stock it will overheat.

Who cares. It's ugly. Lol. There will always be a leap frogging as time goes on no matter what. If Ford is working on a 600hp 6.8L like the rumors say, it won't be faster for very long.

Why do you think the Mustang will get smoked?

The q60 does the 1/4 in around 13 seconds. The 400z would have to be as light as the 370z. Odds are it'll weigh more.

I can see Ford making an engine that would be comparable to the 5.2L and maybe some weight loss to compete with the new gens.

I like the price comparison discussion. Perhaps I keep thinking too much of class comparison. I think pricing will be more expensive as the U.S. government is now taxing their imports higher (for better or worse [I don't want to get into politics, just objectively stating the effects of taxes on out the door price]). I saw Supras costing 70k where I live. I know that's asking, but why would I get that if a muscle car is just more fun? Stick shift, high power, and some body roll but good tires. That's just fun!

i am definitely not worried about the 400z lmao. ESPECIALLY in a quarter mile. the q60 isnt even close in quarter mile or 0-60 times. doubt the 400z will overcome that gap and make our "boats" not stand a chance.

boat memes are for the challengers.

Sounds like it is formidable against the S550. Also, the 400z is lighter than the Q60 so it will definitely be faster. They will probably add some nice 19x255 stock so it will hook great.

Assuming 400 hp, I think the new 400Z will be comparable to the PP1 A10 GT in acceleration in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile. I also think it will about match the '21 Supra 3.0 which makes over 380 hp. Although, like the Supra, I think the extra hp of the GT will make it trap slightly higher in the 1/4 mile.

GT A10 PP1: 0-60 3.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 12.1 @ 120 mph
400Z prediction: 0-60 3.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 12.1 @ 118 mph

But, that's 3+ years after the '18 GT came out.

2020 mustang vs 2020 supra everything ive seen the mustang beat the supra quarter mile and track easily. Even the civic type r beat the supra..which if in the 90s you told someone a civic would beat a supra around a track...lmao. I have heard the 2021 supra is supposed to be revised from 2020 though so i admit idk those numbers.

Regardless..50k+ price range is gonna be pp2..mach 1 price range..

Between supra and 400z id take the supra based off looks alone tbh

For the nissan fanboys (i used to own a 350z myself) this z will be playing around in used GTR ballpark..and even though its design is getting a bit dated at this point..i couldn't see myself being able to justify the 400Z over a gtr..performance and looks wise, also probably resale value wise, "street cred" wise for people that care about that..etc..etc. thats why i say the z needs to undercut the supra and that price range.

The '21 Supra 3.0 got a 47 hp boost over the '20. At first I thought that was just on paper assuming the '20 was underrated (it was), but the '21 has a slightly quicker e.t. and trapped 4 mph higher than the '20 per C&D, so there is a real power difference.

Unless the 400Z goes full on 300ZX twin turbo, it should undercut the Supra price-wise. Currently, the base 370Z is way cheaper than a 2.0 Supra. The Supra 2.0 handily outperforms the base 370Z, as it should for an extra $13k.

I'd have to see the final 400Z in person to know which I'd prefer. The Supra looks great in person; better in person than in photos, and I think the 400Z will be the same way.

Gotcha. Wasnt sure about the new numbers.

The price charts ive seen put it up in that price range, hopefully it's wrong. Having carbon fiber pieces and small things like that make me believe its not wrong though. Like i said, hopefully it will undercut it. That'll be smart and probably worth it. If not, then probably not

Last one is preference. Im sure both will look fine though.
