What kind of battery do you run?
Just OEM... about 35lbs relocated to the rear, when talking on a basis of balance alone, is akin to a 70lb weight savings at the front. Also, all the padding and tiedowns and other BS up front probably account for a couple pounds

From Ford's 2018 Mustang eBook;

3705-3542 = 163 lbs for the manual. 3733-3535 = 198 lbs for the auto. It you "round down", it's about a 100 lbs difference between the EB and the GT.

EB PP soon
A 200lbs battery. Lol

Also...a EB HPO HP will have magnaride. The base GT has standard shocks.

For a Gt to have magnaride, it also needs the PP1. So there...Base GT with magnaride suspension will be more expensive than the HPO.

And worth every penny.

So, would you not be better off getting a regular EB with PP1 and then get the Ford Performance tune and a decent intercooler? Having driven both the EB and GT, the EB just feels so much lighter in the front.

The question is...will there be a regular EB with PP1 in 2020?

There will be no Eco PP anymore, only HPP.

Also the larger turbo gives you the broader torque curve. Short of swapping turbos, not the same with intercooler, tune, bolt ons.

I would be buying a 2019... 0% interest and some crazy good discounts on them right now. Found a 6sp, 101A, PP1 dealer has listed for 26,800. And it's red, so it's automatically faster than other cars. I think the FP tune does a pretty good job of flattening out the torque curve. Has Ford published the HP/TQ curves for the HPP and does it have a better IC than the stock EB? I've always been a "point of diminishing returns" kind of guy and I wonder how much better the HPP will be than the PP1 on a tuned car.

But, for 29,000, you can get a base GT. That's a tough call.

The Ford cal does not flatten the torque curve, there is a huge bump from 2000 to 3500, after that it falls dramatically. The benefit is that the low point of the New curve is around the peak of the old one.

It’s very difficult to get a flat curve with the stock turbo, it’s too small.

The Focus RS curve is published and is much better, we’ll have to see the HPP but based on their description it’s going to pull all the way to 5500 to 6000. On my Ford Cal + ATM there is clearly more pull under 4000 than over.

That about sums it up - the car WILL sell....

There has not been any printed info, discussions or Ford literature about the IC. My guess is the IC has not been improved, but it should be...however, there are quite a few aftermarket IC options to choose from for those needing to update.

There was a mention in one of the press releases about a better intercooler but no updates so far.

Hmm... that would be GREAT if Ford updates the IC, as that’s the major bottleneck on the current 2015-2019’s (PP equipped or not). Ford should have honestly equipped the EB’s with a better IC unit from the start.

I wonder if anyone was able to get some close up shots of either HiPo in the above vid to see the IC behind the bumper cover?

—-

It has been the understanding that buyers won’t be able to get a base EB and then select or equip it with a PP option - that the HiPo for 2020 has now replaced what was the PP... others have thought the same and some disagree. Does anyone know for certain if that is true?

The base EB can be equipped with the HPP, just as the current base EB can have the PP.

There has been no mention of an updated IC that have seen.
