That's exactly what I did just went and got a few feet of hose and more I think about it the more I think I was wrong it wasnt the .035 it was a .030 as I revised earlier which would seem to be VERY similar to where you landed. The surge will never go away no matter what pill you have in there. It's just in the tune. I am lucky enough to live close to a very reputable dyno tuner for Mustangs, and he walked me through everything he did to make my car "right." The long and short is they didn't do a good job with their torque tables, and the car gets confused (paraphrasing). The only way to fix it, unfortunately, is to have somebody put a real tune on it. And now it feels fantastic. Transition to boost is VERY predictable.
I'd personally go Lund if doing a remote tune because I've heard from at least 3 people that PBD had trouble tuning out a similar (but lesser) surge and stopped responding after X attempts at fixing it.
I'm with @BlueCollarDaily with the jets. I tried a bazillion combinations, from the .015 it came with to a .050. Anything above .045 is silly because it's like there isn't a jet there at all. A .035 works well for a weekend driver with an aggressive foot. I landed on a .025 because it just feels the best to me in transition and keeps it from slipping out of boost too easily during slight letoff. If you're going to start trying a bunch, just go to an autoparts store and get a length of tube so you don't have to fish the daggon thing out each time.
Hey great how does the EcoBoost gauge install work can you do a photo?I have an EcoBoost boost gauge so I can see boost when driving even though it’s not mechanical. With the tune reloaded to fix the TB and the pill in, I’m seeing about 2 psi at just a stab of the throttle. Much better than before. I’ll probably experiment with different pill sizes before going with Lund. Thanks for all the great input.
Oh nice I have a 400a but not a PP CAR :(Simple plug and play for PP gauge cluster. Just remove trim panel, disconnect wiring harness and remove gauge cluster from trim panel. Works like stock to include MyColor, etc.![]()
