2019 PP1 brake pads

Question, are the rear PP pads the same pad material as front PP pads or same pad/stock number used on regular GTs?

Lastly, in looking at my 19, the rear pads have a spring that separates the pads from the rotor, does the 18 as well?

I was looking at Power Stop Z23 pads due to he dusting of track pads.

I like my Powerstop Z23 for daily street use. After the bedding and first week or so they really are almost dustless. Id say stopping effort increases a bit from the stock PP1 dust devils.

I dont remember a spring on my 18 PP1.

I think the spring you are seeing on the rear is part of the emergency brake assembly.

No, it's a wire spring that connects the outside pad to the inside pad (over the rotor) that pushes the pads off the rotor when not engaged. Perhaps for cooling? The new Z pads didn't have the springs so the pads are just placed in to the caliper.

I'm putting 6 piston brakes on my 2015 GT. I haven't purchased the rotors and pads yet. The car will be mostly street driven. Any suggestions? The stock pads at a sale price are $200. Anything aftermarket as good that are a bit cheaper?

As someone else suggested, the Power Stop Z23s. I've been running them for two years, and they're great. They reduce the initial bite of the stock PP pads, though stopping power seems just as good. The reduced initial bite allows a little more pedal travel, which gives better heel/toe and allows for increased modulation of the brakes. They're also very low dusting.

I don't like taking the risk of cheap drilled or slotted rotors. The OEM rotors are really solid and getting cheap aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors isn't going to be an upgrade. For one, cheap rotors don't always have good casting or machining, the rotors can crack under heat and stress from the drilling and slotting, and the slotting is constantly wiping the pad - good for racing (keeps build-up off the pad surface), bad for longevity of the pads.

That's what i have experienced in the past. That was a long time ago. Makes sense. The standard rotor is what I'm leaning to. Thanks.

Drilled isn't worth the money for street duty or the risk during track driving.

Slotted does at least give little bits of dust and grit a place to get wiped off into (instead of becoming embedded in the pads and scoring the rotors), which is at least a useful appearance factor. Pad wear may not be all that much faster than with plain rotors - I've used both plain and slotted/grooved rotors in both track and street driving.

I have stock pads with 500 miles that id sell for 1/2 price since Ill likely never track this car. I always switch to low dust ceramic for the street ASAP.
