Search wasn’t finding any relevant results, so here goes. For about a month now, CarPlay has had occasional problems connecting to my iPhone 13, and is now regularly seeming to skip or buffer while listening to audio and using Waze. Audio from Patreon or Apple Podcasts seem ok if I never use Waze, but Waze plus anything results in Waze occasionally locking up on its own or causing the audio to also stop working. FWIW, the audio is still playing / advancing, just no sound in the cabin.

I’ve done a full reset on Sync3.0, updated apps, disconnect the battery… still the same performance so I’m not sure what the next step is. System info:

SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.0
Build 20204 PRODUCT
Onboard Modem Serial Number (ESN): U81400TD
Gracenote® Version: 1.1.1.1139 (NA-0010)
Navigation Maps Version: NA 1 18

Happens to me occasionally with waze as well. It’s more pronounced when I used my wireless CarPlay adapter. Now I just hard wire and it seems to be better.

I get the same thing. If you run music and the map through the wireless hub it tends to delay maps in WAZE (I used to use this) and also APPLE MAPs.

Interesting - I’m using a hard wire and was considering the wireless adapter. Guess that’s out…

OK, update and maybe a solution. Multiple attempts to refresh / reboot did nothing, and it got to the point that any sort of nav - even the Ford nav - would cause Sync to start locking up, skipping, buffering, whatever you want to call it. This would display as a frozen map on the screen and whatever audio you were using - podcasts, music, etc. - would just stall. The seconds tracker on the audio just stops, then jumps ahead 10-15 when it catches up.

What appears at this point to have resolved the problem is forgetting Sync from the CarPlay settings on the iPhone per this discussion @ Apple:

Wild card is that I also switched to a genuine Apple lightning cable, but it's a real POS with the rubber cover peeling in a spot near the plug. I'll switch back to my Anker cable tonight and see if it still works. It did seem to work flawlessly on the 2 hour drive I took earlier with a 1.5 hour break in the middle to let everything reset. Fingers crossed...

Update - switched the Apple cable back to the spare cable (LAX branded ‘Apple approved’) and the problem is back. Will try the Anker cable on the drive home tonight. Sooooo frustrating.
