Anyone know exactly what type of oil Ford used from the factory? Motorcraft full synthetic or the synthetic blend? I didn't see it in the manual...

Okay so what type of oil is in our cars from the factory? The reason im asking is it seemed to me like the first oil change I did. The oil was a little thicker than the 5W-20 motorcraft Synthetic blend oil is.

I did have an oil analysis done on the original oil and the company said that it tests as 5w-20. However, it will be very slightly thicker due to the anti scuff additives that are used on parts when an engine is assembled.

Thanks That makes sense. My car is at 14k. I got a sample but unsure if i wanna pay 65 bucks for the testing. I don't have the famous tick but it has a little rattle at about 1500 rpm. Just thought maybe getting a analysis done to see if i has any abnormal wear.

Amsoil UOA is like $28 if you have an account with them. $34 i think if you dont. i get one with each change. Especially with the ticking, rattle, engine noises to keep track of any wear that may seem abnormal.

If I remember correctly, the Blackstone oil analysis was $28.
Well worth it for the first change and future spot checking.

Also to note, if you have a local CAT equipment dealer, they also do testing. Thought he said it was like $15 or so.
