The question of the day is....are they going to put the GT350 IM on it for the '18 MY...or are they going to wait and see what GM does?

The other question is...are they going to be able to make the VooDoo spec camshafts meet all the requirements?

Not sure if it will be for MY 2018, but expect basically a VooDoo engine with a standard Crankshaft.

Tune only 450+whp here we come!

I remember people were saying the 13-14 GT's were get direct direction..

I bet the 2018 GT will only get a mild hp bump (5-10 horse) but anything is possible.
The Union for the Ford engine plant in Windsor has already confirmed DI for the 2018 5.0's.

The only question now is how much power and what fuel economy.

And whether it will, in fact be a 5.0...

Given the MT82's net torque advantage, it'll be fast.
I hope they work on the TMS some. It's already problematic enough launching a GTPP. I'd like to see one hook up and go about as easy as the camaro.

Still a 5.0, no 5.2 for the GT model.

Before the recent plummet in sales I wouldn't have expected a performance increase but now it seems likely. 475HP and 450 TQ sounds about right. Maybe let some GT350 parts trickle down as options as well...

And Ford can do better with the V6. I wouldn't call the new Camaro 6 a sleeper but at least Chevy took it seriously. The Ecoboost can do some nice pulls IF you have premium fuel in the tank. I guarantee the 6 can handle 30+ more HP. They should dial down the Ecoboost(it's not like women care anyway) and let the V6 be a better car.

At least for the F150 it'll be a 5.0..

Who knows about the Mustang, but I'm fairly certain it'll still be a 5.0 for the GT trim.

Will it?

Saw this from a poster over on a truck forum.

Quote:
Unifor President Jerry Dias said just after a midnight deadline that Ford has committed about US$700 million for its Canadian facilities, most of which will go to retool one of two engine plants in Windsor, Ontario, for a “major new engine program.”

So what is Ford getting for its money? According to Reuters, it’s expected that the Essex Engine Plant, which currently produces the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, will be updated to produce a new 4.8-liter V8 engine for use in the Ford F-150. This is partly corroborated by a statement made by Unifor President Jerry Dias early in the month. He said: “This new engine will be the highest technology, will be the most fuel efficient, will have incredible torque, horsepower and will be put into Ford’s No. 1 selling vehicles throughout the North American chain.”

His information is about a year out of date on the displacement.

Maybe we can get a big block if Trump abolishes the epa mileage demands.
Fingers crossed. :) The EPA mileage demands are way too aggressive. Not everyone wants to drive a turbo 4. Competition will still drive improved mileage and efficiency but allow larger motors to still stay relevant.

My guess would be a modest 10-20hp bump, mostly to say "Moar Power" in the 2018 brochures. DI would be a likely way to achieve that while also meeting thirst and stink statutes. I don't think we'll see anything bigger than 5.0 because that requires more expensive tech to achieve, too much for a bread and butter GT.

It might be a bit more aggressive as Ford tends to stagger big drivetrain changes with big chassis changes. Presuming 2018 is a mild stylistic update, perhaps that would mean it'll be a big drivetrain update. The 5.0 came out, when was it, 2012 or something, 3 years before the 2015 revamp.

As for the 2020 redo, that'll undoubtedly achieve higher performance through downsizing and less mass as has the current Camaro. The current Stang is a bit on the large and porky side.

All the 5.0 blocks are getting the spray bore technology..it's going to be standard as a cost saving measure. The advantages of this are two fold...it's easier to run bigger bores and it's lighter.
