There has to be some kind of refresh, I hope. I want the 8 speed auto.

Just like the 2017 with possibly different headlights that's really all lol won't be any major cosmetic changes and no body line changes
Pretty sure they will change the bumpers too. It's like facelift basics, changing the look of the lights and the bumpers

Is there any pics or renderings of what the 2018 GT will look like ?
Here's my try

The '18MY will use Ford's brand new 10-speed auto (currently in 3.5 Ecoboost F150s / Raptor / Camaro ZL1 ).

Of course you'll get more than just new headlamps. The entire front bumper will be new, as will the rear, along with new rear lights and a new hood.

Think of the changes from the '12MY to the '13MY.

And that's before we get to chassis and engine tweaks.......

Actually, 8 gears would be plenty. Why the jump from 6 to 10, just curious?

I would assume it's because Ford seems to want their tech to last a long time so going for a 9 or 10 speed would be the logical choice.

The 10 speed can skip gears so even if it had 20 gears it could act identical to the current 6R80 if they want. It's just more weight that they gotta deal with. In the end more gears just means better power at different RPM and speeds.

From what i have read the 10 speed has 4 overdrive gears meant for turning lower engine rpms on the highway. I would imagine the mpg rating should be close to 30 mpg highway.

FYI, "Royal Crimson" paint code R3 is also known as "Burgundy Velvet" and is on the current Lincoln Continental and Ford Fusion, so we know what that is... a rather sexy shade that would look nice on the Mustang!

"Orange Fury" (NL) was last used a decade ago on the Explorer as "Orange Frost"

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. Is the 10-speed based on a ZF design ?

ZF don't have a 10-speed, although I suspect they are/will be working on one.

IIRC, the 6-speed in the Mustang is based on the 6-speed ZF design (not sure if it was built under license).

I would assume Ford wouldn't want to throw away the strengths of the 6-speed, but whether the 10-speed is a clean sheet design, or a heavily revised 6-speed, I don't know.

Yep, the 6R80 is a ZF 6HP licensed by Ford, which is like 15 year old technology.

The 10R80 isn't related to any ZFs. I believe Ford owns the patents on most of the key components of the 10R80, or at least used to (might be co-owned with GM now). In any case, it's a completely new design.
