In the case of the base GT, the 235/50R18 Nero (POS excuse for a "high-performance" all-season) was chosen because Pirelli quite literally gives Ford a steal on them: $45 a tire. The engineers responsible for the car's performance pleaded with the program leadership to at least fit it with 255 width as standard, to have acceptable performance for a performance street car (the 255/40R19 Nero delivers 0.90G lateral grip, the 235/50R18 0.83G :frusty:), but no.
Whoa, $45 per tire?? Where are you getting this info from?

I have the stock 18"s with said tires. I'll be upgrading to a 19" square setup soon. Would you recommend 19x9.5" squared with 275/40R19?

Friends who know, living in SE Michigan :)

If you can find a 19x10" setup with 285/35R19 that would be sweet. Otherwise yeah, what you posted is excellent.

Nothing really compelling there to consider upgrading from my 2015 GT in comp orange, manual transmission.

Gas millage. Narrower tires means less rolling resistance so better gas millage.
True, I guess it was just a premium and not a track pack. unfair statement by me to a degree....still that's really skinny and GM gives you staggered setup stock on any SS

The 1LE is a full blown track pack.

The PP is a "Performance Pack"...it's meant to increase street performance while not sacrificing comfort and daily usability.
I get that...but if I want a new Ford that is truly a track car i have to bend over and pay the $55-$60k sticker not to mention dealer markups for a GT350. My comment wasn't so much criticizing my current PP car's offerings (i do love it) as it was the options that the 5.0s get in general for wheels. I just hope that the new PP or PP2 option will be comparable to a 1LE and be a true track pack. Give me mag ride active exhaust and recaros standard with some meaty tires and skip the fancy radio, pony lights etc lol.

That would be a little under whelming. Hopefully the exterior would get an apperance package such as the underbody trim. But I also imagine that would be quite expensive.

So fake carbon fiber as opposed to fake brushed or engine turned aluminum.

My WRX came with fake carbon fiber. It wasn't terrible though.

I'm over here hoping for the opposite and I daily mine lol.....I still don't understand why the mustang's wheel offerings are so poor. IMO the PP should come with some very agressive wheels/tires (look at the 1LE) with maybe an optional squared setup. I still cant believe that my 2014 5.0 came with 235s :frusty:
275/40 is pretty aggressive........

.... The brushed aluminum and engine turned aluminum dash panels are real aluminum.... Granted very thin aluminum over a plastic backing but aluminum none the less. I know this because I modified my dash trim by sanding it and adding a custom brushed finish to the aluminum.

The carbon fiber dash trim will likely be a more polished version of the V6 mustang fake carbon fiber trim finish.

The V6 1LE comes with the same widths as the GT PP. For a performance package (read: not track pack), the 255/275 is fine. For the track, something like 275/295 would be good if equipped with MPSS tires. That would do quite well against the 1LE cars provided the mag ride option or something like the FRPP Track Handling pack as standard.

Jalopnik's thoughts on the new Raptor, including great info on the 10 speed:

If I wasn't in the market for the '18 Mustang, I'd move on this thing...but great read on it and the 10-speed. Good things are coming for the '18 Mustang...really intrigued on the interior changes/gauges and seeing the new front/hood lines.

Though I can't wait to see the new Bronco. I think that's going to be vehicle #2 in a few years to replace my Explorer for winter driving.
