Good stuff, I read pages 25 and up. Anyone know if this is plug and play on a base model gt PP?
I want to try the swap on a 301A PP2 GT later this year. So far my understanding is that in addition to the cluster and housing, I'll need the button cluster with the pony button as well as some changes to the as built data so even on a 18 with sync 3 it won't be a plug and play. The biggest challenge seems to be the mileage programming. Seems like you have to request a higher mileage to be programmed and time the swap once you hit that mileage. No idea what you would do with a used cluster in terms of the mileage.

Didn't P6CL get drag mode to work? I thought I saw it in one of his videos.
Yup I saw the video of him switching to that mode, but I'm wondering if it actually functions as advertised.[/QUOTE]

Drive modes do work, as in they switch to them when you do the toggle switch or within the cluster settings. As far as tune the engine differently would be a NO. I have a tune on mine and the sport mode and drag mode feels the same. So it will change it to the sport mode but that would be it unless a tuner can change the settings even further for the added mode like the 2018 model.

I wonder if it changes the traction control settings? The manual's launch control does that and it actually works REALLY well as long as you don't launch too hard and spin too much.

Will the drive and steering modes change with a change in the ABD or will it totally be lost with this swap?

You keep drive and steering modes with the swap, all he's saying is drag mode doesn't seem to make any difference over track mode besides it indicating "drag mode" in the IPC.

All my drive modes work as they are supposed to but I’m also tuned. Drive modes switch the cluster appearance based on what you choose as do steering modes plus steering modes can be changed on their own as well. I can also switch off traction control and advancetrac the same way I used to before. When I go to drag mode in my car, ‘LC’ (Launch Control) lights up in the bottom of the dash so it wants to do something. What I don’t have the ability to do is adjust the rpm range and a visual interface until I get the new SCCM.

Ah so you're probably stuck at that default 3000RPM launch. I like that it turns LC on when you put it into drag mode! The track menu's are annoying.

Stock it should give you more throttle response when you change from normal to sport or track modes. Even with a base map bama tune or something I think that still changes response based on what mode you're in.

I don’t know what rpm I’m at cuz it won’t let me read it but it’s very possible.

Even Whipple confirmed that drive modes work as they are supposed to when switched so no reason another tune should affect it differently.

Just put it into drag mode and test it! Clutch in, shifter in first, pound the gas. See what RPM it stops at.

Lol, I’ll see the car tomorrow and give it a try but I’m not dumping the clutch.

Well you have to dump the clutch. For science. Gotta make sure it works! LC works really well in my opinion.

Oh yikes yeah don’t do that! You need to fix that... hopefully you already have a 1 piece driveshaft.

Nope. Stock clutch even. My world is road course third gear and up. A Chevy Cruze will take me off the line.
