I hear you but Ford did not issue a TSB and create a new part fix kit because of a few negative posts on-line. It's a real world issue on a major drive train component and there is no justifying that in 2018. I'm not bashing the car. I want one. In my opinion it's the best looking, best performing ( if it stays screwed together ) premium sports car on the market right now but if its capable of blowing a tranny under normal operating conditions then thats a big problem. You can bet that the 2019's that are rolling to dealerships now have newer better parts in that gear box. I'm going to see if the car I want to buy can be retro-fitted with the new parts that Ford is now shipping to dealers for a fix if the car fails. Again.. this situation would not exist if there was no real issue. And while you hopefully will never have an issue I would bet money if you were shopping you'd be looking for more information.
There is nothing that says the 2019's have better parts. If the part fails - then it will be fixed under warranty. Threads like this just drum up paranoia.

Just talked to the dealer that has the car I want to buy . It has a build date of 1/11/18 and that the 2 service bulletins ( 18-2083 difficulty shifting into second and 18-2175 ( linkage failure) do not affect this car as changes were made prior to that date? He said the forks were updated and they changed the "stack up tolerances" what ever that means. Does any of that sound real or does he just want to sell a car? Again.. why would Ford have had to make these changes mid-year production if there were no issues. As far as it being under warranty goes. That's nice but having to take a new car in for warranty work of this magnitude is not acceptable,

Doubt if anyone has the facts to answer that question. If true, bear in mind it's quite comon for manufacturers to make in-line specification changes during production.
IMO, everyone needs to take all the gloom and doom posts with a grain of salt. Realize that for every one of those posts, there are literally thousands of cars out there with no problems.
Although it sucks if it's your car, and I begrudge no one their feelings, you're at least as likely to get a dud car from any other manufacturer.

So the dealer tells me that the car I was buying that was built on January 11 2018 had updated linkage forks and the "stack up tolerance" was modified. That would be good if it were true but if both TSB's on the transmission were not issued by Ford until late May, why would they have been modifying new car production in January. The plot thickens.

This is a bullshi$&&@ post. There is no TSB just more fear mongering.
There are two TSB's concerning the 2018 Mustangs transmission. The first one is in the link below. Second one down TSB #18-2083. It addresses the car not shifting into second properly. If your car was built between October 25th and November 15th I'd get in line for a fix. The second one just came out last week and someone in this forum took a screen shot of the notice from Ford. It's TSB 18-2175 and deals with the failed new aluminum shift linkage. I'm pretty sure these are not made up by people.

There is no TSB concerning the clutch. I have the manual - no problems what so ever. If I do hit a problem - I'll have the dealer fix it.

My last new car was a Mercedes C class - the Dealer Service dept repaired/replaced many items - one point my auto tran stopped shifting properly, my cats rattled - needed complete replacement, my dash display went dark, my driver and passenger side door pulls broke, various leaks, Crank shaft sensor failed..Stereo failed.

You take your risk with any car. I'm going to have to spend $$ to fix my wife's 2010 new beetle convertible - it needs a new ignition switch (the key barely works) and the door check strap broke. My fault for not hitting the dealer early on these issues - both are going to be in the 1500.00 range to fix.

There are people on here with later build dates than that having similar shift fork issues.

If you don't trust the car, don't buy it. There are no guarantees in life and no dealer is going to perform a tsb on a brand new car that has had 0 issues for you. You should probably look into buying a different brand if you have a distrust of Ford. I took my chances. I have a warranty. If it breaks, I will have to deal with it.
