Currently running the Corsa sport car back and I’m not a fan of how quiet it is since I went back to OEM cats. I’m also wanting something with a deeper tone to it, to give it the V8 sound.

I’m trying to pick between the AWE Switch Path and the Borla ATAK (active). Looking for some advice from people who have heard or ran the systems with OEM cats/headers.

AWE’s non-active systems are a bit deeper than Borla, I would assume the Switch Path would be similar to their non-active systems. The Borla ATAK is loud. It’s probably one of the loudest systems out there, so if that’s what you’re going for, I’d go with the ATAK. It sounds really good too

i appreciate the reply. It’s so hard to tell what the exhaust really sound like in a video. I was leaning towards the ATAK but the loudness kind of made me concerned so then I started to lean towards the S Type. BUT I’ve read good things about the AWE touring and saw they have a lot of praise too and offer the switch path. I’m just scared to spend money on a high quality exhaust again and may not be in love with it still.

I get it. S Type is the sweet spot for me. It’s loud enough and has a great sound to it. I like the AWE Touring as well, it’s just not quite as loud as the S Type or ATAK. AWE uses an H pipe instead of X pipe, so their systems are a little deeper in tone (some of that is their muffler design also). Can’t go wrong with either company IMO.

I’ve got a full Borla S-type on my Mach 1. The system was actually meant for a GT so it doesn’t fit the GT500 rear valence the best, so I was on the fence about swapping over to the AWE setup. ( I previously ran a AWE non-active touring on my 2019) What ultimately made me keep it was just the perfection of the sound, it truly is the sweet spot. It’s quiet when I close the valves and screams just enough in track. I came to the conclusion that I prefer a bit of rasp and the overall sound reminds me of the flowmasters that I grew up around. You will not be disappointed with it.

I have Kooks 1 7/8 GESI UHP Gen 2 cats, into an AWE touring cat back. Nice deep tone with absolutely zero drone. Quiet when you want it to be, but gets really loud over 4,500 rpm and screams at redline.

Prior to the AWE I've used Thermal R n D and Magnaflow competition catbacks.

Magnaflow by far best deep sounding but the drone ( at least on their offerings back in 2016) was really annoying to the point wife would not drive in car for long trips as it was migraine inducing. I had tried swapping the x with a resonated H, even tried an additional Magnaflow midmuffler but couldn't get the drone out.

Swapped to Thermal R n D which sounded similar with less drone, but I ended up having the resonators blow out. The system got lost in shipping on way back for warranty repairs, and ended up having the shippers insurance get me an AWE Touring which has been on ever since.
