My question is for people who have driven both the 2019 and up and the pre-update gt350.
I’m finally in a place where I can purchase a gt350. I found a a 2017 with all of the options I want, 2k miles, certified used for about $48k. I had planned on taking advantage of the discounts on a new 2019, but this seems like a hell of a deal. I imagine it would save me around $10k on a similarly optioned new one.
So, for those that have owned or driven both, do you think the update would be worth 10 grand to me? Car would be a weekend fun car, not daily driver and probably rarely if ever tracked.
Thanks for weighing in.

I've owned a 16 and now a 19. From my perspective the biggest difference is inside the car. The 19's interior is a significant upgrade (air conditioned/heated seats, B&O stereo, carbon dash, etc). My 19 has every option including the track pack. Honestly I cant tell the difference from a handling perspective as i dont track the car either. Its a minor aesthetic thing but the gurney flap and new wing are pretty bad ass in person. Much more aggressive looking than the track pack spoiler. From a performance perspective its basically the same car. I dont know why but from a 'seat of the pants' perspective the 19 feels a bit quicker and a bit louder....but its likely a mental thing. You cant go wrong either way. Hope this helps.

I would go with the 2017. I'm guessing people are going to come in and say the 2019 because of the Gen 2 block. I have a 2017 with 20k miles and no issues. Save the $10k, buy an extended warranty if you're concerned, and enjoy the hell out of it.

And certified used may come with a 100k mile warranty. I'd push for as long (time, not necessarily miles) a warranty as the Ford dealer will provide.

I would offer them $45K for the 17 and would not pay more than $46K. Insist on certified. Used value on that car is probably mid to high $30's right now, all sports care are taking a beating.

I was making the same decision as you. New 2019, or used 2017. I drove them both, and bought the 17 with only 2K miles on it as I really couldn't tell the difference in terms of driving, and I plan on swapping out the sway bars and springs, etc. so the different suspension "tuning" on the 19 wasn't worth the extra money. Also, I'm building a sleeved motor for it, so the gen 2 motor wasn't worth it for the price difference. If you like the 19 spoiler better, you can just add that to the 17.

On the 2017, certified used gets you a 100K mile warranty, for 8 years from the date the car was put into service. It should be good until 2024 or early 2025. That's a lot of miles of enjoyment without worry of buying expensive parts. That being said, I'd offer less than $45K.

I own a 2019 and am still very new with mine. I scoured every 100 mile circle from every zip code between my home and Wisconsin to find my car and get the deal I wanted. About 12% under sticker, with every option. I looked at a local 2018 used, 2019's and 20's and found a guy with a 2017 who loved his car and had no plans to sell it or upgrade to a Gen 2. He tracked his car once or twice a year and it did everything he wanted.

If you can get your GT350 dream car and save $10-15K I'd do it, the 2017 probably still smells new anyway.

Thanks for all of the replies. I can’t believe it, but someone snatched it up on Saturday. Sat on the lot for 2 days.
Still good information. Hopefully I can jump in the deal faster next time.

There are lots of used and new 19's out there. Don't get discouraged.

I went back and checked on the various 2019's I looked at in March and nearly every one of them is gone. Yes, there are still 2019's out there, but they are disappearing pretty quickly. If you are willing to drive a few hours, use the Ford search and swap zip codes to find your car hiding somewhere. Most 2019's are priced to move on the dealer site, never the Ford site from what I can tell.

Post your new car, we'd love to see it.
