This thread has been a great learning experience for me. This was my first oil analysis and I did it mostly for shitz n giggles. As a forum, we have a fleet of these vehicles we can compare such things too. Maybe help us learn more about the mysterious Voodoo.

I got around to reinstalling today. I stopped at 13 spins of the knob because I didn’t want to push my luck. Managed to get rid of the gap between knob and collar. Thanks for the help.

Thanks. I did a test fit and got to about the same level. Only ran one small bead of loctite. Maybe I will try to reinstall tomorrow and crank it down a little more

Just installed a Ford Performance shift knob on my car this evening. I was lucky enough to get the stock one off by hand. I’ve read the horror stories of over-tightening and having the threads pop up through the knob. I installed the knob with the blue locktite and stopped when it was getting...

I believe this is the oil from the second oil change, changed at 3100 miles according to carfax. I would have just done the 3rd.

Thanks for your report for comparison. I purchased the car from a dealer that just acquired it. I used the last reported oil change from the Carfax, which would put about 2800 miles on the oil I sent in.

Judging by the aluminum count and lab comments, one of two things is going on...the remnants of break in, or an engine that is prematurely shaving itself to pieces. I’ve literally never had an oil analysis done, so I was hoping other owners could share their experiences at similar mileage.

They are out of their minds. Yesterday I took the stock dipstick apart, including o ring, to attach a Shelby Parts handle. Took 20 seconds on my kitchen counter.

Great explanation, and one of the reasons I think so many Bullitts are still sitting on lots. It would almost seem that Ford is purposely trying to steer people away from manual transmissions...

My 98, 07 and current 93 were swapped to 3.73’s. With their mods coupled with the transmission gearing(and lack of 6th gear) I was definitely shifting early and often...and higher in the rev range on highway. The low end torque of those engines made them seem less “relaxed” at highway speeds.
