Hi everyone,
I have a 2017 Mustang GT with the 6r80 and this morning when I started the car up I immediately heard and noticed the rpm’s drop all the way down to ~400 and it seemed like the car would stall out before waking back up and coming back to normal idling rpm’s. Being scared I opened the hood and immediately heard a knocking/tick sound I have never heard before from the car. It’s blatantly obvious and loud. I know and have read that coyotes can make all sorts of weird knock and tick sounds but it really sounds terrible. I daily this car and it’s on a Lund e85 tune with stock injectors. I’m maybe wondering if the fuel injectors have been clogged from e85 use or something like that and that’s what happened but i’m not sure if this knock/tick would sound like this from that. If anyone has any idea what’s going on or any advice and suggestions please let me know! Thank you.

No offense, but whenever someone with a tuned car asks me about a problem they are having I always tell them to ask your tuner. Usually the issues come back to the tune being the problem, or caused premature wear of a component. Nothing against the tune, and doesn't mean something is wrong, just tunes sometimes cause problems. Send the video to Lund and see what they say!

Honestly it's probably just the normal bbq tick and it's pretty unlikely there's anything wrong.

If you wanted to troubleshoot further;
Can you take a longer video? From silent to start up to idle? Maybe a couple small and slightly prolonged revs so we can hear what's speeding up with the engine? In your video I can definitely hear a tick tick tick in the background but I can't tell where it's coming from. Is it louder on top or on bottom of the engine? How's your oil and coolant levels? How's the exhaust look? Are the insides of the tips clean? Does the tick go away when the car warms up?

With e85, does moisture become an issue?

Typically E85 wouldn't clog your injectors under normal use. Infact it's more likely to clean them.

What % of Ethanol did lund tell you to run?

Not sure where you live, but this is the time of year gas stations lower the ethanol content of E85 and can get as low as 54% they do this because E85 hates cold starts 🥶. Anyway Most tuners want 70% or above ethanol content. What did yours test at?
