As an old head mechanic, I'm wondering if my 2017 gt has a fuel filter, or what is the story?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards, Dave and Frosty

Its a bit hard to understand why not,but modern cars left me in the dust quite a while back!
Doesn't stop me from enjoying the new ones! Dave

I've never really understood why serviceable fuel filters became a thing of the past. My best guess is the socks have a micron rating low enough to be considered a suitable filter with enough surface area to not warrant replacement for the life of the pump. Or it was a cost saving measure that also reduced potential points of failure to the fuel system. Either way, I prefer an inline filter vs the sock even with easy pump access.

probably to save money because most pumps are gonna last until the end of the warrant even with some debris going through it

Another factor is that steel underground tanks at gas stations have been being replaced with new fiberglass/composite tanks that do not rust and scale for many, many years now. New stations get same. Better quality fuel and handling procedures also help to keep the "pipeline" to the fuel station cleaner. Helping to keep the fuel in your tank cleaner. Back in the day of the carburetor you only needed to keep the birds and rocks out for it to work. Fuel injection? Much more susceptible to contamination.
