Will the tail lights from a 2021 fit and function in a 2016?

No, they changed in 2018.
Darn it. Just saw a smoking deal on 2 out of a 2021...$100. If they would have fit my 2016 i would have bought them
..just in case.

I see that places like American Muscle and CJ Pony Parts offer aftermarket lights that fit 2015-2023. American Muscle even lists the Ford Performance ones as fitting 2015-2023.

Damn, I’m sorry, I remembered wrong. Nathan is correct, they will fit. Hope you can still get them.

They absolutely fit, there have been cars that showed up on Ford dealers with mismatched pre-post 2018 tail lights, specifically a Shelby GT350 if I remember.

I can confirm the tail lights from a 2021 convertible will fit and function in 2016 convertible. Plug and play.
Thanks.

Yes they are a direct swap, but why? 15-17 lights look far better and much more aggressive and classic than the curved junk on 2018+. There's a reason the gt500 and 350 never swapped lights. They just don't look nearly as good. Others will disagree but everyone's allowed their opinion. The curved ones look blurry from afar and look shitty up close imo, YMMV

Um, I installed 2020 taillights on my 2015 V6 and they work as expected.

2015 cars are compatible with 2018+ taillights, the design simply changed in 2018

I kinda agree with you. I had to replace a tail light in my car 4 yrs ago and paid 500cdn for a salvage yard one. When I saw these 2021 models for sale for $100 I couldn't pass them by.
This morning I hooked them up to confirm they worked and decided to install them. After a week or so I probably won't even notice them..lol

Yeah, I rarely look at the back of my car but when I do I love it, I currently have a performance pack trunk (so no spoiler or spoiler holes) but might toss a stick in one like the ducktail/wickerbills but no clear section in the middle.

Keep your eyes open on cj pony. I got their renegade smoked 15-17 taillights and they look great and have held up fantastic. They were on sale for 160$ shipped I think they are back around 260 now but wait for the sales they are awesome
