Placed an order on April 9th for a 2016 Ecoboost Premium with a $2000 deposit. Just got a call today (two weeks later) saying my order has been cancelled by Ford and that they are no longer taking 2016 orders and haven't opened up 2017 orders either. Also dealer stated that even once they do start taking 2017 orders that delivery isn't expected until July (not sure where he got this from).

Not sure why there needs to be such a large lull in ordering for a MY changeover that is essentially 3 new colours that will seamlessly be transitioned over to at the plant without a gap in production. Either way Ford needs to level up their communication with their dealers because no one seems to have a clue as to what's going on in terms of dates for when they can and can't order vehicles.

Had no idea wanting to buy a company's product would be this difficult, it's like pulling teeth. This would have been my first new car purchase but between this cancelled order, the gross lack of information at the dealers, and the initial ordeal I had to go through at the dealership itself to come to a deal I'm surprised Ford sell's any cars at all. They probably just lost themselves a first time customer in me before they even made me one.

I don't usually rant but I was really excited for this car and learning that the last two weeks of waiting (in which I thought my car was making progress on being built) were for nothing is really frustrating especially since it could have been avoided if Ford just made their dealers aware of anything more than what's in the car brochure. Couple that with the fact that I can't even put in an order for a 2017 (and no one seems to even know when I can) and I feel like I'm just wasting even more time on a car I was hoping I'd have for the summer.

I completely understand your frustration - I ordered March 5th and my 2016 GT Premium "should" arrive this week - I had NO IDEA that I was cutting it so close to the end of the production run.

I agree with you, the dealers don't seem to be very well informed on the manufacturing details - but this could turn out to be a blessing for you.
2017 models will most likely have some minor improvements in areas that have proven to be problematic AND their might be new package options that you will prefer - for instance, if the pony package had been available in the GT model I would have loved it, but it wasn't in 2016. Who knows for '17?
Plus - if you get a 2017 model, you'll have the 50th anniversary model of the best Mustang year ever (1967), in my opinion.

Interesting...I placed an order for a 2016 GT last Friday, $2500 down...based on the experience above it it may be cancelled? What about price changes? Is the dealer going to honor the price you had on the 2016?

You would think your dealership/salesman would know better.:tsk:

I ordered mine on March 21. Got notification for delivery on May 9. But some how I am thinking later than that for delivery. We will see.:D

I wouldn't read too much into the new guy's cancellation. He is in a different COUNTRY that uses metric plus everything must be labeled in English and French so total country allocation must be a factor. Also, must have got a normal priority code and got bumped.

Nice to hear Ford is running full out on the Stangs.

That really blows. Assume you bought from a GTA Ford dealer who tend to be large, part of a larger dealer group where nobody really gives a darn.

Phone a smaller dealer outside the GTA and see if they can locate a replacement. If you do order a 2017 make sure you get a good priority number like 10.

Thanks, my dealer seemed knowledgeable to the process, they put in a priority code of 10, gave me the Dora, etc.

2016 GT base. Roush axleback and frpp xpipe.
Ordered mine on 3/14/16
Build date (according to the window sticker ) : 4/19/16
Eta when cotus was working: 5/14/16

Hoping it will be ready before. Not sure why it will take nearly a month to ship when it looks like others are getting their cars a few days after the build.

Cotus is back up but no estimated delivery date. Says it is awaiting shipment. Arrgghh. The wait is killing me. Need a beer.

Mine took 10 days and it came directly from Dearborn on a tractor-trailer @225 miles or 4 hours. Yours will be by rail. Read here briefly that Americans can track their Ford via rail.

If your car is black and you hate swirls, don't let the dealer wash it just in case the wash guy is a rookie .... rail dust.

Following a 12 week exhilarating wait it has finally arrived :headbang:. Moved up from an 06 to a 16 and what a difference in the ride.

Many thanks to the FordService team for their help through the entire process.:clap2:

Thanks... When I bought the 06 (in 05) I installed it and received a ton of compliments so I already knew I would be installing another one on the 16. Had it sitting in the garage 6 weeks before the car finally arrived. Took me about 5 hours to install but well worth it. The wind deflector sits right under the bar and didn't have it flipped up for the picture.
