Difference in Standard Features

The original post mostly describes new options offered on 2016 models.
I read through the next 3 pages, but didn't find the information I seek, so I'll post the question.

What are the 2015 vs 2016 Ecoboost model changes, improvements & standard features?
For example, I saw that the base 2015 has 17" X 7.5" Sparkle Silver Painted Aluminum Wheels standard & the 2016 has 18" X 8" Magnetic-Painted Machined Aluminum Wheels standard.

Thank you!

I'm not sold on the perf package the convert which is why I just bought a 2015 convert with the 20" wheel package that came with the strut tower config. It seems to me that I can get *better* aftermarket parts on mine for cheaper then the $3K+ on that package. More so, since I plan on beefing a lot of that stuff up myself, seems like a waist of money. The only thing that may even it out is the Brembo brakes. But I've had them on many different cars and I still say they are over rated for the stock units car companies use. Only dif I have seen is that the Brembos squeal a lot more in normal use :)

Still planning on selling mine when it shows up, and mine is guard.
I'll swap and maybe a couple extra bucks but nothing crazy. I don't "need" them. I'm giving those that don't want them an easy option.

Just FYI the PP parts come to around 9000 in just parts. The Torsen and Brembo alone eat up the meager option price 2500. They could easily ask 5k for the PP. Plus whatever you still want to replace you could easily come on here and sell the OEM PP stuff you replace....just sayin...

Where are you coming up with that number? Performance Package is a bargain, but nowhere near 9k.

• Strut-tower Brace
• Larger Radiator
• Unique Chassis Tuning
• Upsized Rear Sway Bar
• Heavy-Duty Front Springs
• K-Brace
• Brembo™ 6-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors
• 19 X 9-inch (F) 19” X9.5” (R)Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum Wheels (Summer Tires Only)
• Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning
• 3.73 TORSEN® Rear Axle
• Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum)
• Spoiler Delete

This is not a complete list. You're missing:
  • Front struts and rear shocks
  • Larger front sway bar
  • Rear springs
  • Rear toe links
There might be even more stuff. You're quoting marketing material which usually isn't complete. However I do agree that this list isn't worth $9000 even at MSRP.

I think the point of the PP is not necessarily cost but convenience. You buy it "track ready" so to speak.

However, having been in this game for 30 years, anything pre-packaged as "performance" is a marketing tool first and foremost and a compromise in performance secondly cuz lets face it, we all do different things with our cars. Some may do track days at Road America, while others drag race, drift or auto-x. The performance package has to meet the needs of many, but be desirable enough to check that box on the order sheet.

Go add the parts up they add up quick....

Rims 1200
Tires 1000
Strut tower brace 265
Brembos 1500
Torsen rear complete 1500 but that is for a 2011 to 2014 the IRS assembly will be more.
dash/gauge pack 900
Radiator 640
Sway Bar 200?
K brace 160
Springs 150?

There is more to the PP then what is listed. I may be forgetting a few.
Metal bushings?
Monotube shocks?
PP lower valance 160
PP belly pan 500
Quick access oil pan one bolt vs six $?

Remember these are all SALE prices. From Ford it's all more.

Can't put a price on tuning for chassis or EPAS or abs
You can't get the toggles or drive modes. Though you could buy the dash piece with the toggles for 800.

This is buying stuff new and somethings at discounted prices.

It's 8 to 9k in sale prices! and some parts you have to look at last year items since things are not availible yet and you can put money on the 2015 stuff is more expensive.

=8399$

Research+math just doesn't make sense to some people, Brent....

Now, difference in prices is a different discussion, but can't argue that as stock parts market values are nearly impossible to assign.

Sorry, but I call BS on those prices. You're not quoting replacement prices. Once you add credit for the pieces you're replacing it's a lot less.

Agreed. As we all know from a logical standpoint Ford is going to put $9,000 worth of parts on a car and sell it for $3000.

Ford is going to put $2000 worth of different parts on it and sell it for $3000.

Sure, if you're building it out part by part, yeah you're gonna get some absurd amount. The main attraction of the PP are the brakes (1300), strut brace and k brace (200 from ford racing), torsen diff (not sure on price... I saw ~800 on tasca, could be the wrong part), bigger radiator (500), and stiffer suspension (can substitute aftermarket parts). Rims are mostly appearance, and do little for performance at their heavy weight. That money is better spent on lighter rims and better tires.

I've done a fair amount of research on it, but I'm not interested in copying the PP down the last bolt. Stuff like the dash gauges are a waste to me.

Btw, drive modes and toggles aren't a PP thing, it's a premium addon.

I think the question can be asked like this. If you pay $3K for the PP or you go out and spend that 3K on a great header and exhaust system, which one is going to perform better?

There's no doubt that the PP is the way to go if you are fine with typical low/moderate OEM upgrades (like buying a WRX with "sti" options or a Toyota with "TRD option" or a Lexus with "f sport" options) and have no plans to modify. No doubt, good deal.

If you are a moder, no doubt, you'll be taking most those parts off (except the brembo's, good deal there).

Go find them then. Don't call BS until you look them up yourself. Sellers LOVE people like you that shop based on emotion and what you "think" something costs.

Credit for the parts you replace? Oh yay! Because stock mustang springs and sway bars sell so very well, huh.

And I know some of them his prices are low also. Like gauge pack, is actually high (it's 250$ if I remember) but the new dash trim part is expensive and adds up to more than that.
