I doubt the transit connect has anywhere near the power of the 5.0...unless they are running a newer Ecoboost V6 High Output....which again I highly doubt. Different application entirely. The best budget solution is aluminum shifter arm bushings + Motul DCTF. Ford Performance and Full Tilt Boogy make them.Mine is awful notchy. I fitted a Boomba transmission mount and that has improved it, but I can still get a missed shift between 4th and 5th every so often. Apparently the MT-82 is the same box fitted to the Ford Transit van (in UK) and I drove one of those the other day and it was great. So go figure...
I've tried all of the bracket solutions like the blow fish bracket, steeda etc. The blowfish racing bracket worked the best, but also added more NVH and another 10 lbs of weight. The more simple solution is to lock out the point of movement between the shifter turret and where it connects to the transmission and that's at the rubber / plastic bushings used on the OEM setup.
The Ford Performance short throw kit has those bushings for a reason, that most people forgo because they don't want to do the work. You can buy upgraded solid nylon bushings from FTB as well. Next step up would be an MGW or Barten direct mount unit that mounts directly to the trans, but those are quite a bit more pricey. Locking out the movement is really the key and there are two ways to do it, bushings or a whole new shifter assembly.
