Mine is awful notchy. I fitted a Boomba transmission mount and that has improved it, but I can still get a missed shift between 4th and 5th every so often. Apparently the MT-82 is the same box fitted to the Ford Transit van (in UK) and I drove one of those the other day and it was great. So go figure...
I doubt the transit connect has anywhere near the power of the 5.0...unless they are running a newer Ecoboost V6 High Output....which again I highly doubt. Different application entirely. The best budget solution is aluminum shifter arm bushings + Motul DCTF. Ford Performance and Full Tilt Boogy make them.

I've tried all of the bracket solutions like the blow fish bracket, steeda etc. The blowfish racing bracket worked the best, but also added more NVH and another 10 lbs of weight. The more simple solution is to lock out the point of movement between the shifter turret and where it connects to the transmission and that's at the rubber / plastic bushings used on the OEM setup.

The Ford Performance short throw kit has those bushings for a reason, that most people forgo because they don't want to do the work. You can buy upgraded solid nylon bushings from FTB as well. Next step up would be an MGW or Barten direct mount unit that mounts directly to the trans, but those are quite a bit more pricey. Locking out the movement is really the key and there are two ways to do it, bushings or a whole new shifter assembly.

i must have a good mt82 then .. it was a little notchy when cold or when first starting off to work with the oem fill.... i switched to bg last week put some miles on it like 40 just to get everything going ... its a noticeable difference . im not a ( ill switch to this cause everyone is doing it type dude) but i did see a lot of good feed back on the bg so i figured id give it a go .. so far i have to say it got rid of the notchiness and when up to temp she shifts smoother

I had a noticable nibble on the 1-2 shift....until I put in the short throw shifter, the steeda support bracket, and the trans mount bushing insert.

Not sure which did the most, but it really changed the way it shifts. I'm sure the replacement shifters would probably be better but I have no complaints.

I'm sure mine would benefit from a fluid change as well
