Hello All,

Over the course of the last 2 days I have experienced a problem with my 2016 GT.

She runs rough, idol is rough and the car feels like my 05 GT running cams with the AC on, like it's about to die.

I am headed to the dealer but was curious if anyone else had this issue? I googled it and the only thing similar I could find was 2014s with bad cam/ crank sensors...

Is this a new issue?

I haven't changed anything I do the car, drive, gas, etc, car has under 3k miles, BONE stock.

Thanks

Jesse

Check Engine light ever come on? It needs to be checked for any trouble-codes.

Yeah flashing like a cheap hooker.

Took her in, they said my car dropped a bank of cylinders.

Hopefully it's just a sensor

Oh I'm confident they will. My concern is if it was a sensor that shut down half my motorr, what are the long term effects?

Car ran smooth as silk on the way to work this am.

There are no long-term effects of the engine shutting down half the cylinders. Many vehicles (GM LS Series, Chrysler Hemi) incorporate cylinder deactivation which shuts down half the cylinders under low loads to save fuel. Doesn't hurt anything, just sounds weird.

If you drive too far with a flashing CEL though, there is the potential for catalyst damage if the misfire is being caused by a low compression or a spark concern. In other words, if raw fuel enters the cats, they can become damaged. It takes a lot to do that though, it's not something that is going to occur from an intermittent misfire.

Please let us know what the dealer finds.

thanks for the gouge. I would say I drove a total for 40 miles or so like that.

- Had the issue one afternoon, it went away CEL turned off.

- Drove 30 miles to work the next morning, she ran smooth I thought we were in the clear.

- Started again on my ride home, stopped at the dealer.

UPDATE | Keep in mind, car has 2998 miles on it

Got the car to the dealer last Thursday. They pulled codes and got a bunch of stuff for a dropped bank of cylinders, but more specifically a cam phaser issue.

Service tech ordered all parts needed, suspected it was prob just a bad sensor, but wanted to ensure he had the phaser if he needed it.

Got a call yesterday. Dealer got the valve and timing covers off and inspected the motor. Cams, phaser, etc is all good.

They changed the sensor but can't finish the job just yet, because valve cover gaskets are on back order....

I can not say enough GREAT things about the dealer I took the car to. This is NOT the dealership I bought my car at, that is another 30 miles away. They took my car in, rushed to run a code to see if I could make it to the purchasing dealer, found the issue and said they would fix it. They also gave me a LOANER, which I have had for a week.

That's good news! Good to hear a good dealer story for a change.
