Has anyone swapped their cams, I've read it's a good way to make power but I've also read the GT350 TB causes tuning issues and a loss of low down power ?

Cams and GT350 TB are independent of each other, one has nothing to do with the other.

A proper tuner can in fact tune the TB just fine, and it won't cause any loss of power. The GT350 manifold maybe, but so will the cams most likely. You just have to decide where your usable power band should be.

I have a GT350 manifold and TB and it's tuned fine. I read someone else having issues when they swapped the cams and swapped back to the stock TB. I don't want extra power at the loss of lower down, more userable power.

With a proper tune(r), you shouldn't need to do that.

That is all in the valve events, so you need to pay close attention to which cams you go with. Most big ones tend to lose power down low and make it big past 6000rpm. There are milder cams out there that make good power throughout the rev range not just up top.

The Comp Cams have rev ranges on them but I have no idea how these compare to the stock cams, which is what I was hoping to find out with this thread.

You should check out the L&M cams, they gain power all over.

From what I've seen gen 2 engines really don't gain enough from cams to make it worth the expense

Some of the cams also require the VCT to be locked out, which isn't good

Cams would be interesting, just for the chop!

More seriously. If I had my time again, first thing I would do is find a very good tuner, preferably U.K.

I engaged a U.S. tuner.
Very short responses to emails.
No explanations about what they were doing.
The tune has since cost 4 figures in replacing damaged components.

I'll be looking into finding a U.K. tuner, soon. Someone I can work with, face to face, etc.

I would be interested to know A) who you used and B) who you end up using in the U.K.

I have Motorsport Developments reasonably close to me (They are in Blackpool) and in the old school ford scene they have a very good rep.

I haven’t spoken to them about the Mustang, but when the time comes I will open communications with them.

My Cosworth will be going to them when it’s finally built - I noticed recently that they dragged 527 out of a very similar spec engine to what I originally had built when looking for around 440 to 460 … :like:

Those chomp cams aren't designed for performance.
