We did have a class on the Mustang already. I was busy that day and didn’t get but a picture of the outside as I walked a client by. I did however, hear today that the first build should be 9/27/14. I hope this is true. I got it from a reliable source. We’ll see. You don’t have to get your pin until right before we do the deal. Looking forward to calling customers with good news and build dates! I’ll get back with you as soon as I do. I appreciate you. Hope you have an awesome day also.

Thanks for sharing. I would think the workers have the day off on Saturday unless they have scheduled Saturdays as time and a half or something like that.

That's pretty much industry standard. Depends on the union agreement. Sundays might be double time. And approval for that would require all kinds of management involvement and figuring out if the overtime cost would outweigh the profits. In this case, I wouldn't think so. Customer irritation over 300 extra cars this week wouldn't play into the decision. (FYI, I work in industry also, a fair part of my job is providing the numbers of how much more well make if we pay the union maintenance overtime to make repairs, but we run through weekends and holidays so little different than a auto line).

Thanks. Its why that 9/27 date for start of production seems doubtful to me. Maybe he meant 9/29 which would be a Monday. Funny how just a few days can seem like an eternity sometimes. ;)

I work at a place that runs 24/7/365/. We make automotive glass and ford is one of our buyers. Dont know if this is how the auto industry works or not but it works for us.

Are you unionized? I would venture to say that Ford and the UAW at FRAP have a collective bargaining contract that defines the work week, outlines days off and such. You may be as well and that could be in your contract too.

Yes sir ....Proud to say we are. We use swing shifts . I am a control systems tech. Work on some of the same stuff they use to put the cars together with like Kuka robots. We make body glass at our plant and our sister plant makes for windshields . Big diff in process. All I know about where they use it is we sell all we can make. Around 450 tons a day.

Machinsts Union here. That's a ton of glass! (pun intended) I imagine in your process, like many manufacturing processes, it needs to run constantly to be effiecient. Your process isn't just a hit the start button in the morning and the stop at night. Imagine a lot of electric/gas for heating/forming?

A lot of Gas and Elec !! 2700 Deg furnace gets shut down for rebuild once in 17 to 20 years. We run two 12 hr shifts. I really hope some of our glass makes it to the new Mustang. They use diff companys for diff cars.I can tell you if I see the logo on the glass.

I'm sure they do. I think I've heard that FRAP runs two shifts but don't quote me on that. I'd guess Sunday is always an off day and I wouldn't be surprised if Saturday is as well.

That's how ours works. Ain't no hitting the button and walking off. There's a button, emergency shut down, but it doesn't leave everything in a very good state. Just makes a safe mess to deal with later. I work shift (foreman) in production.

I make the products that our customers mix together to make foam. Seat, insulation, shoes, even wood glue for chip board and bowling ball cores. We invented the tempurpedic material, and supply all major auto manufacturers. Ford and GM both give us supplier discounts (x plan).
