GAH! Son of a *)$!#... I just checked on cotus, and they updated my order alright... but now the order date went from the original date of 8/8/14 to 9/4/14. :(

I would not worry about that date. It's my perception that date is simply when a DORA gets generated. It's only if the build date changes that it makes a difference in when you would see the car in the future. If your dealer has allocation, your order gets scheduled for a build week, and as the week approaches, the order gets submitted to the plant and you should have a specific build day. This is when the window sticker should be showing up.

Some of our Ford dealership people who post here can explain it more eloquently than I did.

I'm lucky, my contact at the dealer IS the inventory manager/internet sales manager. He's been great to work with.

Mine is a priority 10 order type 1 . Isn't an order type 1 a retail order ? Either way it's all good . :ford:

Where on your print out did it say what type you are i cant find mines. but i see unit 001 could that be it

Allocation doesn't really work that way. It's something they hand out as they go, not all up front. So, no they didn't have any allocation, and they still don't. When they get an allocation it's usually only 1-2 at a time, and then they take the highest priority order for the dealer that matches the parts that are available on hand. For instance, if they have a shortage of V6 motors and you're the highest priority order at the dealer but have a V6, they'll skip over your order and pick the next one in line that meets all criteria.

And yes, the more I hear about others experiences, the more I realize I'm quite fortunate indeed. It's my first time working with him, and I know for certain it won't be my last.

So my dealer says I have a schedule date of Sept. 11th . Does any one have any idea about when that would put my Build date ?? It's a GT Premuim I have ordered . And it is a dealership car

Not to my knowledge. I was hearing about allocation from my dealer even when my order was still a retail order. It just happened that one of the requirements of the early allocations that they were order type 2. That will be opened up to order type 1 next week I believe, or Job 2.

Which makes sense really, they can only build so many each week, they need some way to get them scheduled. That need doesn't go away just because it's a retail order.

I think the allocation doesn't distinguish necessarily. Only if there's a certain criteria placed on the allocation.

I may be wrong, but I think this is why the retail orders have a lower priority(10-19) than the stock priorities (20-29). When there are no special criteria place on an allocation, they simply pick the lowest priority number (highest priority) order for that dealer. So a retail order would get picked before any stock orders.

However, they clearly placed a restriction on the first round of orders so only order type 2 orders were picked up. So, once they remove that restriction, then the retail orders will start being picked up before more stock orders.

Or at least the data to this point supports this. Time will tell if this holds true once we get to next week and more orders get scheduled.

Well I called my inventory manager just now and asked him for a little clarification on the order process. Super nice guy. He said the date change won't affect my build date since it wasn't scheduled yet anyways.

... While I had him on the phone, I decided to ask him if he could change the build priority to dealer stock (priority 20), and he said he'll do that for me, too. So... woohoo!!!

He mentioned that dealer stock won't guarantee a much quicker delivery, but it most likely will be here at least a week or so faster.

EDIT: Now having read what souprmage said above, I'm slightly confused again, haha... Screw it, I guess I'm just going to wait and see what happens at this point and hope that dealer stock was the right call. I get the feeling no one but Ford has any idea when anything is being built.

At this point, since we expect retail orders to start being scheduled in the next batch, the difference will be minimal. Changing to stock was only a boost to the Job 1 folks since that gave us a bit of a head start before any retail orders were placed.

From here out, it's just about clearing the backlog across the board. Hopefully that only takes a month or two for those that have already ordered.

Some people are expecting retail orders to start getting pulled next week but Ford hasn't really said anything specifically about that. They said scheduling will resume 9/11. The only mention of retail is late Sept. what ever that means.

Mustang & F150 Delivery Timing Estimates​

The new Mustang is in production. We expect retail order scheduling of the coupe to begin in late September with dealer arrivals in November. The convertible model will follow about 30 days later.​

F150 production at Dearborn will begin in October. We estimate retail ordered vehicles will begin to arrive in February. Kansas City will begin production in Q1 2015.​
