Hey guys hate to be the bad news guy but just some FYI. I ordered a 2011 Explorer Limited from the same dealer I ordered my 2015 GT PP. When the completely new redesigned Explorer came out and I put my order in right as order bank opened (like Mustang) my explorer sat at the factory for 3 months. The status changed from "released" to "back to plant" to "re-released" multiple times. Don't let the name Mustang give you a false sense of security about build schedule. This is an all new car, new platform, new body. The three most important models to Ford are the F150,Mustang,Explorer. So even though I ordered on 5/23 and my car might be complete end of August it might not see my dealer until end of November. Happened with Explorer. Something to think about.

Thanks for reminding everyone of the possibilities that could happen. It can also happen late in the MY cycle if something is discovered in just a batch of cars or certain part from a supplier. Ordering first out of dealer stock is a gamble, but knowing they take QA seriously makes it worth it.

Here's an update for all of you I have seen my own car go from in production to order processsing (backward). I have found out that on top of the door alignment issues there is also paint issues. It's my understanding that some front end pieces of the new Mustang are aluminum and they are having problems with the paint adhering to these parts. Again this is normal in the production of a new vehicle just thought you would all like to know what is going on. I apologize if someone else already posted this information.

If I found out a month after I ordered my 2015 Mustang or for that matter, any vehicle and left a deposit on my Purchase & Sale Agreement that the Dealership failed to input the Special Retail Order, (assuming) is could have been placed, I would demand a refund and proceed to another Dealership immediately, period!

I have no idea.... I'm just saying if it doesn't show and you have no other info, I highly recommend checking with FordService to verify they have it in the system.
Correct me if I`m wrong, you placed your Order on July 28th and today is Aug 6th and your having a (panic attack) on the Status of your order? Am I missing something?

cotus and cotusb didn't work for me.

called Ford Customer Care and gave them my VIN (50th Ann. Ed., WW, auto, #465) to get a status update. the VIN the dealer gave me was wrong; correct VINs for 50th Ann. Ed. series are 1FA6P8RF4F550xxxx, where 0001<=xxxx<=1964.

https://www.etis.ford.com worked with the corrected VIN, but information is sparse.

Ford Customer Care said that status for my VIN was updated on 01 August and #465 has a scheduled build date = 15 September.

I hope this helps. If anybody has additional information (especially updates indicating build dates will be moved up for any of the 50th Ann. Ed. GTs), please post in this thread.

Thanks for sharing. Ford has used aluminum exterior parts before on the Mustang correct? I wonder why this would be popping up now. I would expect just finding the correct primer or base coat would allow for better adhesion.

Hood, yes...front fender, no. I assume this is one of these items that comes out with verifying production grade parts and processes.

I would think so. If they haven't had any issues with paint adhering to the hoods of the previous models this just sounds like a Quality Control check. They will have a lot of 2015 F150's with aluminum panels to paint as well I would think.

I think the process for painting the aluminum involves negatively charging the aluminum in order to get the paint to adhere. I believe I saw this in a Nat Geo doc that was posted elsewhere in this forum.

"Am I missing something?" I think you may have....

I did place my order on the 28th, it never showed in Cotus, I contacted FordService and they could not see my order and recommended that I contact my Dealer. I contacted the Dealer and after searching, they had failed to place the order! It was an error on their part and they trashed it, so they put it in today. No panic attack, just verifying it was ordered and suggested that other may want to do the same. I checked Cotus within an hour of them entering the order and it showed.
