If you don't have the testicular fortitude to handle the uncertainties of pre ordering you shouldn't have. Discussing potential delivery times is great. A vocal few who complain in JULY that the process MIGHT take too long, frankly I don't understand. Nor do I care to. /

I think the main reason why a person would custom order a vehicle is the fact that they will get what they want and NOT a bunch of extra crap that they don't want... for the most part it is ahell lot easier that way than to have a dealer hunt down a vehicle that had the option you want whereas that can also be a negotiating point but that process can take just as long if you are even lucky. Wait times suck but also at the same time can be used as an advantage. Even using an xplan save a hassle of sale. This will be my second Ford that I have special ordered.. first one outside of military car sales aside from the Audi tt.. I guess the anticipation and seeing specs and reviews draws a lust sometimes uncontrollable but not rabid as I have seen a few here...I know we all can't wait to be behind the wheel

Per a new car inventory manager on blueovalnews.com (ice-capades) this was sent out to them via Ford communications on July 21st:

Posted 21 July 2014 - 01:25 PM
FYI... Per today's "Commodity & Constraints Letter" regarding vehicle scheduling for this Thursday, July 24th... 2015 Mustang will not resume scheduling until Thursday, September 11th!
So anyone without a VIN can expect to see a delay in movement of getting a VIN until September.

It appears that way. Which includes everybody but the small lucky few who were able to place stock orders rather than retail.

Go back to page 27 of this thread, so you can seen this has been hashed before, it isn't anything out of the ordinary

I don't know if you meant to reply to me or to the guy who originally asked but I remember this being mentioned a few times. Just trying to help the guy out. I should have said possibly mid August, in two weeks.

I hate to be so blunt but it seems to me like a lot of people are coming into this thread to complain without reading the thread. Ordered retail units will not be released until Ford is confident that the car won't have any problems for highly picky customers (I.E. the people who aren't reading the thread / impatient with the manufacturing process) dealer stock is essentially a guinea pig and is used to refine the manufacturing process. You could have asked your dealer to order you an allocated stock unit especially if you were leaving a deposit (which should be fully refundable if not find a new dealer). It seems to me like a lot of people may have been overly focused on ordering the vehicle thinking they'd get it in 6-8 weeks ( standard order time ) this vehicle is a brand new platform be patient. Also you should have asked more questions at your dealership of choice instead of focusing on the pure emotion of buying a new Mustang I know it's difficult but many of the issues arising could have been avoided by asking questions or reading this forum post and the others that have been written over the past months.:readthethread::repost::headbonk:

Just heard that there are issues with door alignment on the production of the Mustang right now. This is expected as its the initial run and I don't know if I should be feeding the fire with this info. I do think it is important and relevant for you all to know though. It's also important to know that these things are normal in the start up of production on a new vehicle!

I'd rather you say what's going on. It's cool. Everything will work out in the end.

It's all cool, that's why this period is called the tooling trial

Thanks for sharing. :)

I think door alignment should be a relatively easy "fix".

This is spot on. Just because you like something doesn't mean that everyone else does. People also have must haves also. I showed a fusion today to a customer that was exactly what they wanted less a moonroof so now I'm dealer trading for a car I already have except it has a moonroof. Why settle when you are spending 20-50 grand I know I wouldn't.
I agree "in theory" of your premise that Mustang Convertible buyers might be "Picky" but I assure you, my Salesman who also happens to be the Dealerships Commercial Fleet Manager too, said that he will Order me (2) Identical 2015 Mustang Convertibles configured the same way, One for Dealer Stock and One as Retail Special Order. Both will be Base 3.7 V6 Convertibles, A/T with the Spare Tire being the only Option. Which ever one arrives first is mine! He told me a "Race Red" Mustang Convertible, A/T, with Black Interior & Top will "fly" off the Lot! With a MSRP of just $31,315, not many Folks are going to wait another 10 to 12 weeks to add or delete (1) Option. He laughed and said, if I change my mind when either Car arrives, if it stays on the Lot more then a week, Enterprise Rental Car that runs an Office at the Dealership would grab one or both of those Convertibles.

They actually have to completely demolish the entire assembly line and tear down the building and rebuild it from scratch to fix the door alignment issue. It should delay production 7-10 years.
