I look forward to hearing back from you on this.

Does this concern anyone else that has a Job1 car? I hope I'm reading into it and don't end up with an issue plagued car.
Don't read into it, the issues are being taken care of. Everything after Job 1 was nothing but routine things that happen in production. ;) Please, no PMs asking for specifics, I can't tell ya. If you have a fishing charter business near Dearborn, there are plenty of management folk who would tell you everything on a fishing trip:D

Yeah but they did delay the OK to buy for a reason...

Does anyone recall the initial roll out of the first and for that matter to a lesser extent the second edition Escapes? Both had, Do Not Sell & Hold Orders for fuel line leaks! Having a newly launched Vehicle built a few months into production, (at the very least), is often best. Later built 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrids had much fewer Battery issues then early built Units. If you need to be first, be prepared to be first in line at your Service Department early in the morning to have those early glitches fixed/modified. Patience......

Absolutely, the 9/9 target date was set months before, there was a one week shutdown of the entire plant after the date was announced, then target metrics were not achieved. This is routine, happens all the time. When you are planning your logistics months out, you can't just say whenever. You set a best guess target and if you make it, you get a pat on the back and the Line Rats get to work harder. I speak the truth, they would rather hit the target and work harder, than go through the pain of pulling cars from the line causing production constraints.

Different vehicles and different plants...it could happen to ANY of the vehicles built at any time.

All we have is anecdotal information about what problems were, and to the point of waiting until later...yes, it could be better but it is not a guarantee.

In this run up to production, there have been multiple waves of cars built at the plant since earlier this year. There are those who say don't buy ANYTHING coming during the first model year. If any of us who heeded that suggestion, then would be patient to a point there would be no issues?

It could still happen again. I've watched Mustangs come from this plant since 2004. I've also seen Mustangs coming from the prior plant.

Over the years, it has been my experience that the type of issues people see fall into these categories and in this order -

1) fit and finish
2) component failures
3) design flaws

The first 2 come up as the line rates go up, and the third happens with months or years into service. Unless you want to wait 12 months or more, anybody who is buying a car this year could be subject to problems that other people will comment "see, told you to wait until next year."

I know I've oversimplified here, but it is my opinion that saying Job 1 cars are going to be worse than Job 2 cars raises red flags that don't necessarily apply. Case in point - GM has put a stop sale on 2015 Corvettes. They've been building these cars for a year. Anything can happen at any time, so thank goodness for the warranty.

No, I don't have a concern. After owning 2 Mustangs that came from this plant, I have high confidence in the following -

1) the number of cars built and the schedule on which they have been built has stretched out over many months
2) any cars that had major defects will have been updated before they ship
3) the Ford personnel at the plant know they are building an icon that reflects on them

I've had the chance to talk to the engineers and a few of the assembly workers at the plant when I toured it in August. All of them expressed the desire to get things right.

Of course, we won't know for sure until we get the car and live with it for awhile, but if anything, I think the earlier cars are being reviewed very closely. I know there are others with experience in the industry that could probably tell the horror stories, but I don't get that kind of vibe from what I've seen at the plant.

This is very encouraging and backed with sound, confident statements. I feel a bit better now.

So has ok to buy buy achieved?
OKTB is achieved when the suits send the dealers a bulletin that says that. So, in a nut shell the answer is no it has not been achieved. Is the plant ready for the next phase? The suits review their metrics and if they are satisfied then they'll pull the trigger. If it were on the Vegas line this week as to whether it happens or not, my money is on it happening.

And that statement say's a bunch.

I'll keep pestering my dealer to try building a P8J 99Z until my car get's scheduled. Which ever happens first is what I will continue to wait for. I'm in no rush at this point, snow is a month away and I'd prefer not to make payments on a car I'm paying to store until March-April. :(

I still  at all the guys that 'ordered' dealer stock cars in August getting impatient.

If you have a Retail order, it never would have been given a VIN or scheduled before the "OK to Buy" date, which is hopefully sometime this week.
