not sure what that means, i believe its just a placeholder. but like the post above says, we both have an ESTIMATED 11-2-14 build week. So even after it gets built, it still needs to get shipped to our dealerships. That's why I'm guessing our delivery dates will be sometime in Dec/Jan.
I'm in the same boat. I got my VIN last week. I checked it and I have the exact same information. Since we have had our VIN less than a week or so, I think like they said it's a place holder. Till they get a confirmed build date to enter I think it is just default. I have read here you won't see a build date on your COTUS screen till sometime after a week that your VIN has been assigned. Looks like we will get ours before a lot of people in the forums. So I'm not sweating it... :)

yeah. i feel for those guys who ordered months ahead of us and still havent gotten their vin. ill be happy with a december delivery.

are you certain you have the correct dealer code/order number? mine showed up on cotus the day my dealer gave me the info, which was the monday after the saturday i went in to order it.

if you do have the correct dealer code, try entering an order number lower than yours. for example, if your order number is 3316, try 3315, 3314, etc.

I have what he gave me. I just copied and pasted from the email.
I tried lower numbers and it didn't do anything.
The order number he gave me is alpha numeric and 8 digits long. That sound right?
I have read on the net that cotus doesn't work for everyone so I'm hoping that's all it is...

every dealer uses their own order # format. mine happens to use numbers, 3315, 3314, etc.

you should PM tricia "FordService" on this forum and see what she can dig up for you.

First time poster, longtime viewer of this and other Mustang threads (own a '08 myself) - just a little cautionary tale for some of you who can't ID your car still on COTUS...

Like a lot of others, I had some initial issues with my order/dealer code on COTUS in being able to find the status of my car. Was a bit frustrating since I had ordered in mid-August and could see on here that many who had ordered around or after my order date had seen their car already, let alone had VINs, etc.

So anyway, I've spent the better part of the last week shaking down my dealer on it, because was sort of frustrating to get an initial response from them that "it would be here in six to eight weeks" when I knew there were tracking methods available (per you awesome guys and gals).

Long story short (initially, even though I had my vehicle order confirmaiton, they gave me incorrect info on the car & VIN, which I instantly refuted after looking up the car because it was not what I ordered, and caused more of a stir afterwards), they told me: "We have confirmation that your order was placed the same day your deposit was taken with the correct equipment. Ford has switched over to a new system and was accepting orders from both systems... We are trying to track it down in the new system."

After still pushing them on it and not hearing back from them after they told me they'd respond to me, "Your original order has disappeared from the system. Your car was re-ordered yesterday and has an order number of ----. Our Ford Representative will be expediting your order on Monday. On Friday, you should see your vehicle pulled for production."

So, I'm not really an expert on the whole ordering process - consequentially, glad that I did some diligence around the matter thanks to a lot of your postings. If you're still having issues in receiving some of your basic vehicle info and you ordered a while back, I'd push back on your dealers until you can get it. While in the end an order is being expedited (holding my breathe on that one for now, but I can at least track that in COTUS), it's still an added frustration on the process that I was hoping to avoid. I don't know if there were really two submission systems or how many other dealers have a similar process, but just I guess a word of caution from my experiences especially if you're nervous like I was on that front.

P.S. Been reading a lot of the chatter - you guys do a great job at keeping all the information relevant, being quick to the presses on stuff, and overall give great advice

And that shifter! Wow! Easy to shift and such a short throw. Clutch is easy, not too much effort so I think it will be the easiest manual mustang to date, I know much easier than my 2012 Shelby

And that shifter! Wow! Easy to shift and such a short throw. Clutch is easy, not too much effort so I think it will be the easiest manual mustang to date, I know much easier than my 2012 Shelby
It makes me wonder how much shorter a short throw shifter is or whether it's even necessary. I think I saw 15% on one of the threads, but 15% of not much is still not much.

I got my order number and the dealer code from the salesman. When I enter it into cotus.ford.com it says "no matching vehicle found".
Is my understanding of the process correct?
On the 16th or sometime after I get assigned a VIN, once I have got my VIN my car will show up on cotus?
You situation is similar to mine. Send a PM to fordservice with your order number, dealer number and all the info about the car. My dealer had multiple vehicles on the same order so mine wouldn't work. Fordservice found the correct order number and that I was assigned a vin.

I went to production yesterday, and the window sticker is working today. Blend date is 10/6.

Finally got the correct info (Thanas Rachel!) and found my car in cotus. It's still in processing but at least I can obsessively check the status 20 times a day and stare at the picture....
