I've heard 9/9, 9/11, even 9/22...

I'll be checking 9/9 on COTUS... but only every hour or so.

Stock orders resume on 9/11, no one knows for sure weather or not retail orders will also start that week yet.
BOOOOO!!

I'm going to remain positive and go with 9/9... that'll help make it happen, right? :D

But 9/11 is good, too. :usa:

Hi All,
I just placed my XPlan order today (Job#2) and am super excited. It is listed as a retail order with a 10 pref, so I will probably be waiting a while. Here's the specs:

Ruby Red GT Premium w/400A
-Enhanced sec pkg
-18" Foundry Wheels (for winter tires, nicer rims next year for summer)
- Ebony Premier Trim
- Reverse park assist
- Nav
- Manual

I've missed my 06' redfire GT and regretted selling it years ago. This car is her replacement :D

Been around here for a few months but finally ordered this morning (got to place the order myself as my dad works at the dealer).

GT Fastback Premium
5.0L V-8 TiVCT Engine
6 speed manual trans
Deep Impact Blue
Ebony Natural Grain Heated/Cooled Leather
401A Equipment Package (BLIS, Shaker PRO, HD radio, memory seats)
Job #2 order
All Weather Floor Mats
Spoiler Delete
Enhanced Security Package (active anti-theft, wheel locking kit, electronic locking center console)
Adaptive Cruise Control
Spare wheel/tire
Premium Trim Color Accent Group

Sticker: $40,995

Getting it under D plan

Options I was on the fence were:

V-8 vs. Ecoboost: I drive 80 miles/day but I figured might as well go for it, V-8's may not be around forever and you can't beat the sound. I also grew up around the 5.0 fox bodies and love they are using the same 5.0 badge again.

401A package: Expensive for what you get and I didn't really care about the BLIS as the standard blind spot mirrors work well without having to trust the electroics. HD radio and memory seats could take them or leave them. But without the specs of the standard "9 speaker w/amplifier" sound system, I wanted to be sure I was happy with the audio system.

Standard rims vs. the 18" foundry low gloss rims--standard rims look new age but don't care for the "spider" looking legs, but they want $155 to swap off and basically downgrade to the foundry ones that come on the V-6 package so I stuck with the standard ones figuring there will be many rim options for this car if I really hate them.

Now the wait begins.....but hope I am not too impatient as I really don't think I will be able to drive it before the snow comes this winter so it will be sitting in the garage until the weather clears next spring anyway.

This is going to be my first Mustang ever (I have been burning rice all my life) but I'm sure now that a s550 Mustang is going to be my next vehicle.
I'm debating between placing an order or waiting for dealer stock to show up and go in to negotiate.

I have never ordered a vehicle before, so my question is how much negotiating room is there when placing an order versus buying an in stock car? I've read in this thread that some guys have gotten them for less than invoice which is impressive for a brand new car to the market.

I'm inclined to go and place an order as I want a very specific vehicle: I want a GT, 6 sp manual with the Performance Package in Guard. I dont care about anything else that just makes it slower...For me it would be unthinkable to pay for gadgets and special editions unless they add to the performance. My absolute max that I'm willing to pay is $34, 500 (Tax and title not included).

Good news, the configuration you just gave comes out to XPlan price of $33,383. Sign up for Mustang Club of America for $50, wait a few days for your membership card, get your XPlan PIN from the Ford website, find a dealer that will do XPlan, and you are all set. I just did this for my order.

^Do what I did, email every Ford dealer in your area and ask for their best price. They will almost always ask you to come in and talk. Insist that they give you a price first. Then shop your best price (via email again) to other dealers, having them compete for your business. I got mine for 3.25% under invoice from the comfort of my recliner.

Absolutely agree with this strategy and I've done it myself in the past.

All dealers have internet managers or departments now, so just find their email on their website and fire away from the comfort of your own home.
