Yep my Mach 1 squeaks and rattles every which way, but I'd still take it over any of these more expensive sports coupes. Ford knows who its customers are.. they put performance first. Everything else is just gravy.I'm with you on that, have a friend with a 10 yr old 3 series and the interior of that car is solid as a rock, no rattles or squeaks, surfaces feel sturdy and solid compared to the Mustangs cheap hollow plastic feel but at some point I have to ask myself if I want to pay Ford to engineer a better interior or better performance because it's gonna cost more either way, and for this type of car most people are probably going to opt for the performance.
I see you're from the UK. I thought you guys were all about the luxury interiors? Jeremy Clarkson said it so it must be trueAh, but we're now talking about a new type of Mustang that needs generic appeal, as well as muscle-car-head appeal................so it's needs muscle AND soft touch plastics![]()

Curious, what do Brits think about Clarkson anyway? I find the guy entertaining but some US folks don't like him much... maybe because he praises everything English (Jag / Land Rover) and dumps on everything American made like he kinda did in his GT500 review this season.Oh yes.....I caress my dashboard every day![]()
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm kinda amazed there is even a small community of Mustang owners in the UK. It's awesome to hear, just unexpected. Always thought was a huge bias against muscle cars in general there. Do you get crap from other people for driving such a rough-around-the-edges kinda car or do they shut up once they hear that engineYou tend to find the younger generation (teens/early 20s) think he's God and what he says must be true. The irony is much of what he says is said purely to be controversial...........but that's missed by many.
I used to follow him when he was much younger (pre TG) and had a back page column in Performance Car magazine (that sort of became Evo). Back then, he was unique in his style of motoring journalism.....a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, that air is now pretty stale for many of us. I now actually prefer to watch TG USA..........as do quite of a (Mustang owning) friends because there isn't the anti-American-car bias.

+100... exactly right. Apples and oranges completely. Ford pours most of its R&D and cost into the engine and performance capabilities. To get inside a vehicle that costs half the price of similarly performing cars and complain about the interior and how uncomfortable you feel after tearing it up on the freeway for a few hours is just a little unfair?I think most of what Clarkson does is for entertainment purposes although I do enjoy his honesty, if he thinks a car is crap he will say it, unlike the US version of the show which doesn't even do car reviews. But you're right, he praise a $100k + Jag, Range Rover, Aston but complains about the interior of a $35000 vehicle. For $100,000 those cars better have a nicer interior. I guess my main challenge to most of Clarksons anti American car statements is to show me a new $30000 vehicle made in UK can that has 400+ HP and can match the performance of a $30000 Mustang GT. As far as I know there isn't one.
They ccertainly could... and I'm glad they dont. I have a regular sedan for all the nice trimmings and creature comforts. I can't imagine driving a Mustang with wood and chrome everywhere.Yes and Ford could take a Mustang interior and make it look like an Aston Martin inside by covering every touchable surface with real wood veneers and leather but then the car would no longer be an affordable muscle car for the masses. Save the fancy interior for the new S550 based RWD Lincoln flagship that's supposed to be coming in after the new Mustang.

I saw that too and it was kinda of ridiculous. He would say something nice about the GT500 then follow it up with something bad like he was purposely trying to find something bad to offset the good.Curious, what do Brits think about Clarkson anyway? Good example of grass is greener on the other side kinda thingI now actually prefer to watch TG USA..........as do quite of a (Mustang owning) friends because there isn't the anti-American-car bias.
