That's not confirming they have been shut off. That link is just saying the daytime running lights have been moved next to the indicators as I said at point 3.Nobody can see why the tri-bars should be turned off, there was no reason told by Ford. They just confirmed this:

The Tri bars must be the sidelights otherwise we will have no sidelights in the UK and that is not legal.
This setup reminds me of the wife's cooper s where the DRL is located near the fog so the front light space is used for the headlights and sidelights.
