Keep in mind that in January 2021 Mecum auctioned off F0016 at Kissimmee with that unit still on the MSO and had 70 miles on the odometer with the MSRP being $66,970.

Because F0016 had not been titled by the consignor namely Sam Pack Ford, the new owner had to contact Ford Performance in February 2021 in order to obtain the GT350R owner's kit which was still sitting in Dearborn.

Hammer price that day was $105,000 with the OTD price of $115,500.

That same owner recently receiving a call from a well know auction house offering him $200,000 for F0016 as they had a buyer for his car which meant a final price probably around $215,000.

One of the very best buys in 2021 at a public auction IMO.

Would be interesting to know how many owners kits are still sitting at Ford Performance

Here are my predictions:
2016 Base R - I don't think a Base R has hit 100k yet.... but it's coming and I think it will happen for this lovely Avalanche Gray R. Such as bad ass color combination. Hammer price: 90k, which will put it at 100k final for the buyer.

2015 R - Really hard to say as one of these has not came up for sale publicly in 3 years. For a normal 2015 R I would say it would hit $225k right now. But this is the last one built. #37 of 37. I think that capitulates it up to 275k hammer.
Looks like the 2016 Base R didn't sell. Anybody know what the high bid was?

Interesting…I kinda wanna snag a base 350 and send it to Fathouse…keep one R stock, and one worked to pieces…but I may need to get divorced first…

I believe that it was $77,000.

Trying to critique a vehicle like this from a laptop and not in person is very difficult to da.

Assuming that you are at the Indy auction, what did you think of the presentation for GR095 and did it come with the original Window Sticker and OEM GT350R car cover?

I’m not going to make it down for the 2015 R to cross the block due to high school baseball playoffs for my son. Will definitely be watching on my phone though!

$77K for the base R feels a bit light, not knowing what it looks like up close. Some of the ones that don’t hit the number right away tend to get bid up and sold at some point over the weekend. Worth keeping an eye on on the Mecum site this weekend.

Agreed and if GR095 hammered and sold at the high bid of $77K the OTD price of $84,700 would have still been on the low side IMO.

Can't blame the consignor for not lifting his reserve price at $77K as that would have only netted him/her $69,300.

When taking into consideration the consignors auction entry fee, vehicle transportation costs, hotel accommodations, meals, airfare/road travel, I suggest the consignors net amount would be much closer to $65,000 for this vehicle.

I'm going tomorrow. Not sure if the car will still be there or not but I'll keep I'll eye out for it

I don’t think broader market has come around to appreciating base as much as really in the know enthusiasts on forums like this have…my gut is, it will take 5-10 years for the real valuation premium to present itself as more and more folks wake up to how unique and special it is. Let’s not forget, it took a LOOONGG time for people to realize how special cars like the LFA are. So im not surprised really, yet.

yes, this…and I doubt they ever will. Let’s be honest, the base is seen as the “cheap version” of the 350 series, and anyone with the wherewithal will not be looking for a summer car without a/c, as the ~100 pound weight savings just isn’t worth the hassle 😉

Add to that the 1987 Buick GNX amongst a few others cool HP models.

The GNX was great marketing for Buick back then. The FBI ended up with a lot of those cars. I won’t take anything away from the GNX. I still think the GN is one of the sexiest cars ever produced. The 87 GN was a better buy then the GNX back then in my opinion even if you could find or get either. It didn’t take much to make those cars really wake up. I had a few of those over the years back then and would really like another. My last was consistent mid 9’s/140’s. The Monte Carlo SS’s were slick to, but didn’t get the same love.

I was in Indy most of this week for work and we went Tuesday. Here is the 2015R. I think it comes up Friday. I already know 2 collectors going there specifically for this car.

No question that the 1987 Buick Grand National was a very cool car but the 1987 GNX was much more desirable without question.

If I recall correctly Buick built over 20,000 Grand National vehicles for the 1987 model year versus just 547 Buick GNX models being assembled that same model year.

The Grand National came with 245 HP whereas the GNX came with 300 HP therefore based on the significant difference in production numbers let alone the ~20% plus HP difference the GNX was in a league of its own with values between the two Buick models reflecting accordingly over the last many years.

I almost pulled the trigger on both of these models back in the day but the only reason for not purchasing a "Darth Vader" Buick was based on the automatic transmission which many of my buddies and myself could not accept back in the day.

Could you imagine a 5-speed manual transmission in a 1987 Buick GNX back then as that would have been something else!

Thanks for posting and suggest that chassis F0037 is going to do very well on Friday afternoon as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase the very last 50th Anniversary 2015 Shelby GT350R produced for the launch model year.

I hope that the original owner namely John Atzbach will be watching closely as to how his car ends up doing sometime later tomorrow.
