I went my local dealer today and test drove a 2016 CO base gt today. They still want $32k + taxes&fees. The window sticker price was around $34.5k and it doesn't have the enhanced security package which my V6 has. They were trying to explain to me that they have to mark it up since it is the last year for CO, dunno if that is true or not but it smells fishy.
Did you love it? Is it worth to be in negative equity over?

That mentality is disgusting. So just because someone is young you assume they can't afford it? As a previous member said, this isn't a Ferrari.
Meh, I think your comprehension is not exactly disgusting but fitting. And to mention the Ferrari statement is icing on the cake, dude!

Think about it. Why can't I test drive a Ferrari regardless of MY age? It's about being able to financially afford it. Most folks regardless of age cant afford a Ferrari. Hold that thought!

Now lets think about this for a second. Most young folks - not even just young actually - cant afford a GT. Why, because a GT is not exactly cheap.

Now again, let me slow it down for you...MOST YOUNG not ALL but many. If you are one of the few that can good for you. Dealerships are not losing sales because they turn down many folks to test drive a car they cant afford.

People need to remember that dealerships will honor KBB values for trade in and we should expect KBB value in return. If not, you're giving money away and are not working properly on a fair deal.

I understand what you are saying, dude! I will stick by what I said and say it again. That mentality is disgusting and is bad for business.

Example:Lets say a young athlete that can afford a Ferrari goes to the dealership. The salesman doesn't know who he is and denies him a test drive or barely pays him any mind. Do you think that athlete, that makes millions, is ever going to buy a car from them ever? I know I wouldn't.

Once again I know and understand what you are trying to say, but it is bad business!

test driving a Ferrari probably cost as much as a base v6 mustang with no packages.

Just leave him to his misery. The guy said 29 is young... you don't even want to be driving a sports car past 40...

So you think everyone is entitled to test drive cars they cant afford?
Not entitled but within reasons.
Now being 20 something maybe test driving $100k cars is pushing it but I bought my GT at 29.
I normally don't go test drive cars I know I can't afford but sometimes the salesman will encourage you to drive expensive cars lol. They want to ride in it too.:D

You know I had the exact experience when I was looking at Mustangs. Walked into a Ford dealer. Nobody came up to me to greet me for a good 5-10 minutes. Then, finally someone came talk to but insisted if I wanted to test drive used Mustangs. I insisted I was looking at a brand new Mustangs and see if they would work on the price for the 2015s. They were just like they are selling them fast so they didn't want to lower the price. I waited till the 16 came out and went to a different dealer and bought a brand new one for 6k under MSRP.
I was looking at cars for my mom and this sales lady looked at me from head to toe (I am Asian and clearly can't afford a 40k Lexus, right?) when I asked for a test drive. Then, she just had me make a circle in the neighborhood. Was not impressed at all.
I also test drove a Miata with my mom, I even told the sales person I won't be buying one soon and he just threw me the keys and told me go have fun. I really liked the car, so did my mom.

No misery what so ever. 29 is a young adult, IMO. So what do you define as young or old? I guess 40 is old? LOL. I'd love to know how old you think I am.

In the grand scheme of life 29 is young. Not so young that you can't test drive new cars though.

I bought 2 mustangs and test drove both beforehand. I test drove several others. Every time except once I broke the speed limit at the encouragement of the salesperson. The first test drive the salesman took it out of the lot and he was freaking me out.

I loved it. It felt much smoother than the V6 especially at the low rpms. Is it worth it to be negative? It all depends if how bad you want a v8. For me I felt that they were giving me a pretty good price for my V6, $20k. However what I didn't like, which ultimately made me leave, is that they are marking the price up and giving me the run around on how rare CO and that people would pay over the price that they have it at. Originally they wanted $37k + taxes/fees, which was $34.5k sticker + $2.5k mark up. 37k for a base gt that has been sitting outside for about a year now. In the end when I wouldn't budge they offered $32k. Not worth it in my opinion. I'll be waiting for the 2018/19 GTs.

/end rant

Of course 29 isn't too young to test drive a car. If you can afford it, test drive it! But lets face it MOST not ALL but MOST young and even older adults cannot afford a 30-40k new car!

I bought my '14 when I was 24. I have been in the military some time now and am happily married with no kids, so I have the means to enjoy a GT for a DD. I had a '99 Vette that I was selling in order to purchase the '14. Despite evening rolling up in the Corvette for an appointment I arranged over the phone to see a GT in person, about 75% of the salesmen changed their attitude to nearly demeaning once they saw my appearance and about half of those were "too busy" to get a car for me to drive.

On one occasion, a younger salesmen that I had arranged a meeting with never changed his attitude after meeting me in person and the first thing he did was throw me the keys and tell me how to turn the traction control off. I bought the car on the spot after an easy 5 mile test drive as I had the check from the bank in my pocket at each dealership I went to. When I told him my experience at other Ford dealerships, he told me a story about a man in dirty work clothes checking out the new F250's. Evidently none of the other salesmen wanted to bite, so my guy went out to see how he could help. I guess the guy owned a huge landscaping company and went to several dealerships to see if anyone would pay him mind dressed like a bum. He purchased 10 trucks that day.
