Recently purchased a 2015 GT that is garaged and driven at least once a week. Noticed on first drive after picking up car after it's sat for a the week that the first couple applications of the brake pedal results in a god awful brake squeal that can wake up neighbors. Then after about 3 applications of the brake pedal, the squeal goes away never to return, until car is taken out again after sitting idle for preceding week. Happens when it's cold, hot or in between. I've removed wheels to inspect and brakes look fine, almost new. No missing parts, nothing sticks out as an issue. Car can sit the whole day while I'm at work and brakes will not squeal when I go to drive home. Has to sit for the week Oh, and even when squealing the brakes stop car just fine, just make my teeth ache with that sound though. In my 40 + years of driving, the only time brakes sound like this is when the pads need replaced, and sound doesn't go away much until that is done. Anybody have any thoughts on what may be going on? Thanks in advance for any input.

It's surface rust on the rotors, bro.

You may need to disassemble the brakes to apply an anti-squeal product and reassemble.

I have this too! It does it when the breaks are cold. Embarassing. Only passenger front does it. My break pads and rotors are at a healthy level.

Yep, that's it ! Same sound, only does it a time or two than I guess it's good to go. Has done it when it's probably only in the 60 degree temps.

That sounds like a logical next step, any recommendations on an "anti-squeal product' ?

I'm wondering if the car maybe has aftermarket brake pads or if the pads were recently replaced and no treatment was applied on the pads. Either way you'd have to pull it apart to find out.

Pads are nearly new but then the rotors look new too. I've got maintenance history for most part (one previous owner, older guy who did most of his own work, but he documented it). Apparently brakes "redone" about 4 months before I got it. No remarks about pad treatments so probably never done. Once this god forsaken cold spell is over and done with I'll do a bit of wheel dismounting and apply something to pads. Thanks for all responses !
